Wow. I'm startled beyond belief, and need to tell someone what I just discovered.

First a little setup.

I was watching my local news (something I do not ordinarily do...) when a story came on about Gabrielle Schock, a Kansas student who came home with a rare and fatal form of meningitis . As I was watching, I noticed the credit line given to the provider of the photo of Gabrielle that they used on the broadcast . It said   ~courtesy MySpace.com

Wait... what???

THAT caught my attention more than anything else (Yeah, I could be called a little cynical, but, uh, not really...).

So, my question is...

... IF the family of Gabrielle Schock had not wanted a picture of Gabrielle shown, or if, for some weird reason, they just couldn't find one ( yeah, I'm not that cynical, I know... highly improbable, that one)... did KSN have the right to pull one from Gabrielle's MySpace web site? That one made me go, hmm. Does that mean that anything anyone posts in a public place, like MySpace, becomes, well, not "public domain",necessarily, but "free game"?

Anyway... Oh, no! THAT is not the reason I am somewhat shaken as I write this... that's next!

As I was cruising the KSN web site looking for the news article and a way to post a comment, or send an e-mail, I found the local sex offenders list web site link at the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the KBI.

I'm bored today, did I mention that? There hasn't been any work come in yet this week, so I've been BORED!!! So bored that I actually started surfing the internet again...

So bored was I, that I actually decided to punch in my zip code, and take a look, to see who's in the area.

We're ALMOST to the bad part:  I found between 40 and 50 offenders IN MY ZIP CODE ALONE and there are several zip codes in this city where I live!!!

Here's the bad part: One of them is RIGHT NEXT DOOR!!!

The KBI web site posts mug shots of these people, and the address for this one guy was right next door as of two weeks ago. The registration date was Feb. 06.

The people who moved in next door about a month ago?... a man, a woman and a girl child of about 6 years old. The child is never happy.

I've not had a chance to speak with them. I myself am a very private person, and know few of my neighbors ( I live, not even in a mobile home park, but in an RV lot. There are a few mobile homes, and I am in one of them... but mostly, there's is a lot of transient traffic in here. I like it here in spite of the few problems intrinsic to this lifestyle...).

But I have seen them. My computer and thus my work day, is next to a window that looks towards their lot. I know when they are coming and going most of the time. They are all three gone a lot during the day. They go to the lake on the weekends. Something in my psychic gut tells me there's a relative nearby or something. It also tells me he works during the day. They only have the one vehicle, the truck that they pulled the RV into the lot with in the first place. So all of them leave together and all of them come home together. Every day.

So I've seen him over the last month. Occasionally at best, but enough to know that he is very clean cut, and a "tight package", if you will. All you'd have to do is put a long handlebar mustache on my neighbor... and you'd have the guy on the KBI site.

OMFG.

And now I wonder if I will ever look on that website again. I may have mentioned my tendency to come to the aid of damsels and children in distress before. The people in the trailer on the very corner and across the street from me, last summer, fought all the time. When he started throwing shit at his woman, I started to notice, and I let them both see me noticing... and it stopped.

DO NOT tell me there's a child rapist next door to me???????????
