What has happened to America? When did we lose our ability to take a punch, stand our ground and fight back? When did we lose our nerve to stand up for the little guy and ourselves and when did we forget that standing your ground and starting a war are two different things. There is nothing wrong with saying "Bring it on" in retaliation to an attack. Do you act like a little bitch when attacked and scream" please don’t hit me in the face" or do you strike back? We are not global bullies, we are defenders. Overthrowing a ruthless dictator is not throwing our weight around. Where do some get off saying that we should have never stuck our nose into Iraq and then say we should do more to help this, that or the other country that has the same problems. When the next mission of mercy goes sour will you be bitching about that one too?

Well, I'd like to see Zimbabwe be the next mission of mercy.

Jadestar…Please, tell me more on this. I truly would like to hear. Why Zimbabwe in particular?

Painful Truth, Mugabe is a despot; has been for 2 decades. Because of African nations struggling for independence, they (neighbouring countries) have turned a blind eye. But now that African countries are turning more attention outward, with regards to foreign affairs, the truth is becoming painfully obvious - now that Zimbabwe is on the brink of collapse. Kofi Annan said in a speech: "Africans must guard against a pernicious, self-destructive form of racism that unites citizens to rise up and expel tyrannical rulers who are white, but to excuse tyrannical rulers who are black."
Hopefully more countries will take this outlook. But then again as a politician what do you do? Sanctions have done nothing to help. Their economy is so crippled.
The corruption is rife. One example: Mugabe forced garages to more than halve petrol prices, so petrol they had bought for R6/litre they had to sell for R3. Officials would "hit" garages; with a bunch of their cronies behind them. Once the garage owner is forced to drop prices, the official/cronies buy out as much as trhey can - & it is rumoured, so that they can sell it on the black market for R12. The same happened with food. Many food stores were unable to restock on food.
He's now abandoned this policy, but it is my opinion that it was just a ploy to stock up on stuff to be sold on the black market.
Previously, he promised homes to people & did not deliver, so he told "freedom fighters" they could 'help themselves' to white farms etc.
A few months back, the leader of the opposition party was so badly beaten by police he was rushed to a SA hospital.
There really is no opposition party. Bottom line: the man is a despot.
    Elections? What a joke.
There is so much more - if you google Zimbabwe, I'm sure you'll see many stories.

Jadestar…Yea I hear you. Atrocities like that should not go unchecked. The problem is that when others do something there are those that call it bulling, and if there is a fight involved then the cause is needless. What I mean is if we stomp the living hell out of someone, then we are brutal invaders. If we start to take casualties then it’s not worth the effort. People need to realize that there is a time to fight and when you fight you need to be prepared to take a punch. Not "give into the darkness" as soon as the first punch lands.

Well, this is it...What is Mbeki et al meant to do.....must SA forces invade the place & shoot the crap out of him? What is that going to look like to the rest of the world, with whom we are trying to play so nicely in order to get foreign investment. Send mercenaries? last time mercenaries that were are their way to Equitorial Guinea (funded by Maggie Thatcher's son by-the-by) were caught in Zim. Veeeery bad. Give them this: their security is very good. But then when you have a police state run by a tyrant I guess that's a given.
No, we have to play nicely. African leaders have to beg & plead, rubbing up his demented ego, while trying to reason with a madman. Meanwhile more & more refugees escape into our borders. And the human rights atrocities that are inflicted on them..................it's a fact, still after 13 years of democracy, the majority of poverty stricken people are black, particularly in rural areas, & they don't take kindly to the competition imposed by refugees who are willing to work for way less. And still it's the richer exploiting the poorer. It's almost reminiscent of how apartheid started - poor whites didn't like the competition they were getting from black labourers.
Except in this case, it's illegal immigrants......people almost without an identity, so to SOME: without a value of life.
Oh yes, then there was this scandal busted open by the media here in SA: corrupt police officials capturing known illegal immigrants - bribe them for freedom, leave them alone a bit, then start the cycle again - lucrative business.

Sorry for the rambling. But thanx for showing interest. I'm sure you weren't wanting this much 'info'.

Hey, if any of you guys see fit to do a covert operation into Zim, I'm sure you'll be doing a lot of people a favour :-)

Jadestar...Hey you’re not rambling. I asked didn’t I? I don’t claim to know every problem in the world, but I do know that a lot of BS happens and should be taken care of. First by the people affected and second by outside good guys who have the power to do so. It’s one reason we have the Green Beret. They go in and train the people to fight their own battles. If that does not work then things escalate. I’m not an advocate of a one-world government. I believe that many different countries are fine, but each and every government should be a responsible and caring representative for the people. Not the peoples owner, controller. Slave Master, Dictator and on and on. As for covert ops? It’s a beautiful thing!
