It's Saturday, but it never feels like the weekend on Saturdays now - my husband has Sundays and Mondays off, so those days are our weekend. It's weird all day Saturday, because deep down, I know it should be the weekend, but it's just another day for me. Monday is a little funky too, for the opposite reason. It's strange to be able to go out and do whatever on a weekday.
I just received an email notifying me that I've been awarded a moderator position on the mommy site I frequent, for one of the two largest forums on the site. That's cool! I figured I'd be a shoo-in, since I'm already a staff member (blogger) there, but it's nice to feel appreciated/trusted anyway. I've been at that site since its inception and am glad to help however I can.
I've gotten my DH's word that we'll go try to find a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Monday. The last book wasn't out of stock for a week or so after its release at stores around here, but with this one being the series finale, I have my doubts as to how easy it'll be to get a copy. I guess we could've pre-ordered, but what's done is done. I certainly wasn't going to pay for shipping for a book I might be able to buy just up the street. At the time, I thought it would be easy enough to wait until whenever I just happened to stumble across the book. Silly me! :-D
We're about to embark on a new adventure - potty training little one. She's giving me signs, and I don't want to ignore them. I bravely assembled her potty seat today, and have left it in the play area so she can explore it. So far, it's held Cheerios and a puppy plushie, been sat on, stood on (and in), slammed shut, and the removable padded seat part has been used as a hat and an oversized bracelet/anklet. Why do I have the feeling that actual attempts are going to be hilarious and, um, interesting?
It would definitely be nice to not have to buy diapers for two all the time.
I have to write down directions from MapQuest tonight (I could print them, but I need to replace the ink cartridges in my printer/scanner/toastmaker, and doing so is a loud and annoying process that'll wait until DH is home to care for the baby I'm sure to wake by doing this.) We've only been to Nana's once before from here, and I was in the backseat with a cranky 18-month-old at the time, so I wasn't paying attention (and of course we didn't keep the directions :-p). Once you get to a certain point in the route, there's only one way to do it from anywhere.
My dad is cooking a pig for the gathering tomorrow - I don't envy him having to stand out in the heat like that. Despite my best efforts, I'll probably be mostly outside too, since Nana has a great backyard for kids. Little one will love that. One of my uncles might bring his dog, which would make the day just about perfect in a 2yo's eyes. Conversation (and possibly beer) will flow freely, and everyone will leave feeling reconnected.
Little one is like me, I've just noticed (she's in my lap, quite content to be silly between typing) - she hates to have her hair tucked behind her ears. She and DH are both in desperate need of a good haircut. Maybe well do that Tuesday (which is men's day where we go - half price).
Current book: Sorceress of Darshiva (Eddings; book four of The Malloreon)
Final random thought: I just watched the video for "Chasing Cars" (Snow Patrol) last night, and while I wouldn't say the lead singer is all that attractive on the whole, there's something about him in that simple scene that appeals deeply to me. He has a very kissable mouth (noted my crazy Scorpio brain around 2am). I'd like to test that observation! My other thought had to do with the way his hand moves when it's palm up on the ground - evocative of someone over him, and you can guess where my mind wandered, given that (bad Infernal! :-D).
*ahem* Um, anyway, there you have it. I'm not blushing; it's just warm in here!
