OK, that's a pairing that i dislike. sorry, super z but to me, oranges have no business anywhere near chocolate.

Expendable--I haven't tried it with brownies, but I don't see why not.

Silver: I knew there had to be something wrong with you. Oranges go perfectly with chocolate. Fresh orange slices are fabulous dipped in chocolate fondue.

pfft, you've known me for how long now and you're only now finding something wrong with me? jeez, are you attending the eilan school of reading comp? :D

You're cheating, Z. This is a recipe for a 5-minute glaze. It takes longer than 5 minutes even to buy a chocolate cake.

That said, anyone who dislikes the combination of chocolate and orange is just this side of being a mouth-breathing leg-humper. ;)
  • Zayda said on Jul 19, 2007....
No I'm not cheating. All of my under-5-minute desserts are only under 5 minutes if you have the ingredients already on hand in your house. That's why it always says "ingredients you will need on hand" at the top of each blog post.

Yeah, LJ, that's a mighty apt description of someone who dislikes the combination of chocolate and orange. ;) It's rather like thinking NY is actually good stuff.
  • silverwhisper said on Jul 19, 2007....
yeah, so say promoters of a corrupted form of pizza. unclean! unclean!

You know, ed, if I didn't know you any better, I'd suspect you of being a Rethuglican because you keep coming back to that same pitiful theme whenever it turns out that I have more well-developed tastes in food than yours. ;)

As for your skepticism regarding the combination of chocolate and orange, a quick search of the recipe library at foodnetwork.com yields about 2,200 recipes with "chocolate" in the name. Of these, fully 189 also involve orange: that's nearly 10% of the recipes from a vaunted and, surely you'll agree with this, well-respected source.

Silver, you wouldn't know quality pizza if it trout-smacked you in the face.
  • silverwhisper said on Jul 19, 2007....
LJ: i detest fennel, too, yet the plethora of recipes including it won't convince me to like the stuff. heh..."rethuglican"...i like it! :D

super z: considering the experiences i've had with pizza, i'm fairly certain the object and subject of that sentence ought to be reversed. :>

Never tried oranges and chocolate but I will so I can say I have. :-)
  • Zayda said on Jul 23, 2007....
Suddenrain--You really should give it a try. It's very good. Orange slices really are great dipped in chocolate fondue. :)

You are not going to believe this...I had a dream about eating oranges and chocolate.   :-/  Geuss I better go shopping. LoL

Just saying, this is supposed to be a place where you leave your comments. If you want to argue i think you should find a message board or sumthing. But basically, don't like the food? fine, but dont dis until you try it. Like the food? That's great, leave a comment and be done with it but its stupid to argue over sumthing as pathetic as this: 'oranges dont go with chocolate', 'yes they do', 'no they dont.' We get it. But we dont need a running commentary.
