Harry Potter....

I was just curious how many people were 'into' the Harry Potter books/movies. Do you let your kids read/watch them?

I, myself, have read the books and watched the movies and find the story line very interesting.... and the movies are pretty good, although they dont capture the books entirely.

.................. you're turn!!!

My husband and I both enjoy the books.  My nine-year-old read Sorcerer's Stone a couple of summers ago, but she hasn't yet read the others.  She has her own paperback copies of the first six books, so she's free to read them whenever she'd like.

My husband, nine-year-old, and I saw Order of the Phoenix last weekend.  We didn't take our three youngest children.  My six-year-old really didn't want to go, anyway; she said she'd catch the movie on DVD.

I liked OotP (the movie), but I also found it dissatisfying in a lot of ways.

Books and movies read/watched here. My kids are too young to read, but when they are old enough to do so, I will most certainly let them read Harry Potter if they wish.

Thanks for the posts everyone. We took the kids out tonight for a Harry Potter party at a mini mall close to the house. We had every intension of buying the new book at 12:01am but it just so happened that my husband won a copy!!!! So from 10 to 12 we waited around and enjoyed the little events being put on, and at 12:01 my husband was given the first book of the night! It was a blast!!!

So i'm off to reading for the next few weeks, give or take a day lol.

My husband and I are big fans of the books. I've found most of the movies okay but dissatisfying in the way that many of them have been adapted or what they chose to emphasize in the movies.

My 6 year old likes the movies so far, as well. He can't quite read the books himself, but I am, beginning today, reading them to him, starting with Book 1.

I loved the books, too, but I'm in accord with all of you about the movies. I liked the first two, but the rest leave much to be desired. I think the Harry Potter books deserve a place in literary history. They will live on.
