I do have hair on my chest, but not my back. Most women seem to be totally grossed out by that. When you say you like body hair, do you mean on the back too? I think my lady likes my chest hair....I hope! I don't wanna wax it off or shave it because I think that would hurt and be too much work for me!

I have no problem at all with male body hair.  Quite the opposite.  I think it's amazingly sexy.  I hate that it's the fashion nowadays to wax, shave, pluck, and otherwise de-hair every blessed inch of the adult male body.  It's soft and sensual and it feels so good and smells so good to bury your face in a chest that's covered with hair.

I shouldn't be thinking about this now... :-\

  • sweetsoul said on Jul 13, 2007....

oh Mimi feel free to continue :)

I'll mimic Mimi's opinion. mmmm remembering a certain man with a wonderful portion of manly hair on his body.

Bottom line though is I like men natural...the way they come. If it's with hair...great. If it's with minimal/no hair...wonderful. But like Mimi what I really dislike is this current fashion among men to become hairless.

    evil twin,
If a man ever did want to take the hair off, it could be a playful experience with the his lady.  She could use Nair, wax or other things and turn it into a sensual experience.  ;-)  I'm glad your lady likes you just the way you are though.

    Mimi,
I like hairy chest, etc. too.  It's hard to describe, but it just feels manly to me.  Masculine is probably a better word.  All that hair traps the male pheromones.

    NotSoSingleChick,
I hope you had some fun with your man and his hairy chest.  :-)

    sweetsoul,
I guess some men remove back hair etc. because they want to or because their lady requests it.  I am not crazy about a hairless male body either.

    Natalie,
You two are so much fun!  I haven't really given armpit hair much thought.  lol  :-)

I think male body hair is very sexy--chest, back, it honestly doesn't matter to me.  There's a time when I might have thought otherwise, but I've broadened my horizons.  Oddly enough, I would prefer that my men not have facial hair beyond a few days' worth of stubble.

What I don't get is why some people think there's a connection between body hair and hygiene (or lack thereof).  Hairy doesn't necessarily mean dirty.

  • CreativeWoman said on Jul 13, 2007....

I'm ok with body hair, though I know a guy who has so much back hair that tufts of it (it's black, of course) poke up out of the back of his shirt collars...that's a bit much for me. Other than that, though, it's all good.

As far as beard vs. no beard, etc. - eh, it's his body, and he can keep it however he likes. My DH and most of my close guy friends are cleanshaven, but it wouldn't bother me if they weren't (unless it got to the four larks and a wren point).

The happy spot has to be trimmed tho.  No hair on the butt...lol. Legs are fine. Oh, and I love a 5 oclock shadow on the face, along with thick trimmed eyebrows. Long dark lashes. CreativeWoman:  I would have to say both, but mostly how it looks.  Afterall, I since I don't like hairy backs, I haven't had the inclination or the proximity to touch them.  Maybe it's just a personal thing with me, for some reason that I don't even know.  When I see a man with a really hairy back, like at the pool or beach, I stare (can't help it--sorry) like I am seeing an oddity.  Like they haven't fully evolved, is how someone once put it.  And now I think the same thing!  Apologies to all the hairy-backed men out there and to all of those that love them....

I don't suppose this is the place to say that this entire discussion is sexist.

Imagine the response most of you would have had if I'd started a thread to discuss what I and other men prefer in the way of women's hair color, body fat, or complexion. Men have or do not have body hair and they can't do anything about their degree of hairiness (other than to shave some or all of it off) any more than women can change their original hair color, their  inherited body shape, or the darkness/lightness of their skin.

Sorry ladies, but this discussion is every bit as sexist as those I just suggested.

lioneljay, you are right about it being sexist, but the fact is there are discussion of women's bodies all the time.

I was in grad school, in a student bar, and I heard a co-ed say how yuck she thought it was for a man to have a hairy back. And I have a hairy back, and for just a second I felt the sting that some people must live with for being black or ugly or stupic.
I would be happy with back hair that was less visible, but I go from month to month without even thinking about it. I had a neighbor whose chest hair was so thick it was basically continuous with his beard, so he had to shave down to the under collar level. I'm glad I don't have that to content with.
  • lioneljay said on Jul 14, 2007....
CW, I simply wanted to point out the similarity between this discussion and ones that are reviled as sexist when they are about women's body parts. I'm not offended in the least.

At the same time, the fact that neither you nor any of your female commenters felt any compunction about objectifying men should help you understand why so many men take offense when they are called sexist for holding a discussion about women's bodies that they feel is perfectly in bounds as well. See my point?

As for me, I carry around a small rug front and back and have been told multiple times that it's as sexy as can be. I'm not at all disappointed by that response.

LOL it looks like this little harmless post generated a firestorm of a discussion on sexism.  This is what I love to see in SoulCast.  Whether it's size or the shape of penises or boobs, there's a reason why these types of posts are always on the featured page.  That may say something about us as a community, or us as in humanity as a whole, probably a little of both.  It's one of the driving forces of life, indeed the most primal of them.  It's something everyone has an interest in, and has a say in.

As for myself, I am naturally blessed with no hair on my legs and arms.  I do, however, have a little patch of hair right over the sternum, and I do have a little hair on my belly.  :)

evil_twin: I haven't seen it so much at SoulCast, but on my other online haunt, threads/posts about women's bodies, particularly as they relate to weight, can get really, really ugly.

I think a man's body hair is sexy because my husband's a hairy guy and it's what I'm used to and currently prefer, but I've had smoother partners and I like them, too.  I'm equal opportunity that way, I suppose.

I think about it like a penis size issue.  I'm probably going to fall for the person before I find out how much he's packing in his shorts or how much body hair he has.  Of course, body hair's more visible than a penis, particularly during the summer months, but still. . .   :D

The way I see it, if you really, really like someone, then little things like body hair won't matter that much.
  • CreativeWoman said on Jul 14, 2007....

He started growing chest hair about 6 years ago, ok no prob I can handle this, but it's the kind of chest hair that you could get lost in. After the chest hair grew in I was afraid the back was next only because his father wears a year round sweater. One weekend at the his mom and dad's I asked his mom if she thought her son would get the back hair, she then had her son lift his shirt and said "nope, his father was full grown by 20". My boyfriend is 25 although he does have little sprouts here and there that I love to pluck(I know gross, but it comes from loving to pluck eyebrows). Oh I forgot to mention the best part, he did shave it, b

ladies, i found friday last week that i accidentally blocked evil_twin. what can i say, it was a spaz moment on my keyboard. right now, blocking someone unsubscribes you from each other, so that could have happened here, i think. does that sound possible?

    Ed,
No, it isn't possible.  I haven't blocked anyone.  I'm sure of it.  I did report it to Soul Cast Help.  I suspect it is some sort of glitch.  I went to Eilan's blog and it said I was still subscribed.  It is a mystery to me.

    Ed,
It really is.  It's almost like I have a lid on my numbers.  I don't want anyone to feel slighted though.  I'm sure not doing anything like blocking to cause it. If someone is messing with me, let them have their fun.  It's only a blog.
