This damned quote pops into my head every so often. I can't remember when I first heard it or even whether it was radio, tv or a movie. I can "hear" the male voice clearly. If anyone can tell me where it comes from I will be So pleased!

(And, if anyone else has a quote that bugs them cos you can't remember where you got it form, add it here and people can visit and help out.0

My quote that bugs me?

I believe it was on the old (late 60's or early 70"s?)  show called "Laugh-In."  I am not 100% positive, but I think so.  It had all those crazy skits- and I believe this was one of them.

Hey Tappa! Thanks for bringing that up. I suspect Laugh-In as well. "Ve haff vays uff makink you talk." was my favorite there.

I liked Edith Ann....sitting in the big rocker....and the old man on the park bench being beat up by the old ladies purse....  I can't believe I have forgotten so much.  Oh yea, that was Ruth Buzzi and,     ??????  (Do you believe in the hereafter... heh, heh, heh....Do you know what I'm here after?) slap, slap!

Hey, thanks for that - you're right "Laugh In". Funny thing, NZ has never screend Laugh In on our tv - but I remember now that the clip of this line was part of a tv show/movie we did have. (This, back when state-owned tv was the only tv - and only two channels, even now!)

You are in New Zealand?  I am the one who is out of touch......only two channels?  What?

    TV in NZ?
TV started back here in late 50s, with one channel, state-owned. The corporation said it was four channels, but each could only be received in its own region. So no option for viewers back then.
Well now we have free-to-air channels - two state-owned (imaginitively titled TV1 and TV2); Maori TV, and C4 (for mainly music). But C4 reception isn't nation-wide yet. (At least, " they say" 'yet'!)
We have pay TV - SKY - with the number of channels dependent on the option you buy. Almost all hotels pay for SKY for guests.
This in a nation with a land mass roughly about the size of New York state. Population when TV first came was less than 2 million; today it's about 4 million (and most live in Auckland area). I think it's the economics of the population that dictates how fast/slow TV has grown.
