You know Chess is a very romantic concept for a lot of people. It's a simple game with good and evil, there are kings, queens, priests, knights and castles. Certainly not to be forgotten is the common man the pawn. Not a single one of these peices have inteligence, they have parameters, what they can do and what they cannot do and there is no point in wishing that a rook can move diagonally or that a queen can jump.
The real fun of course is the game itself, even though the pawn is considered the weakest piece by many people it is vital to any strategy. With the proper care it can become anything it's controller wants, a knight, a bishop, even a queen. It's in control though, not even then and the player is the really the one who accomplished something when a pawn becomes topples a knight to become one himself.
There is nothing that happens without a purpose in chess either, there are sacrifices, there are strategies and fun is had by all. I imagine that it must be nice to be a chess peice, to have no responsibilities of your own. To know that everything that is, has or shall happen is part of a grand plan that you are too short sighted to even comprehend.
As romantic as Chess is though I'm not a pawn, I'm a man. So is each and every person reading this but many of you prefer to be pawns and I pity you. I know better than to hope but I wish my words would get through to the pawns, knights, rooks, bishops, kings and queens and turn them into men because there is no grand plan. There is what we make and we can't do it alone.
