Dear D6fer - Only the thought obstructed do not see the political hoax of (man made) global warming being played out before them. cite: Global cooling - Acid Rain - Y2K.   NM

D6:  Should we get all excited when one breaks ranks with 2000?
  • D6fer said on Jul 02, 2007....
YES! muck YES! I am confident that this con will be brought to the light of truth!
  • bloc said on Jul 05, 2007....
He didn't break ranks. D6 is exaggerating as usual. Climate models aren't perfect and don't account for everything. Everyone knows this already. it's nothing new.
  • D6fer said on Jul 05, 2007....
So why are they stating that this is all caused by man in such a "matter of fact" way?
  • bloc said on Jul 05, 2007....
Because that's what the evidence overwhelmingly supports. Let me put it this way.

Can doctor's create a model that accurately predicts who will get lung cancer? The answer, of course, is no for the same reasons. There are far too many variables to consider and many aspects of it aren't well understood yet.

However, can a doctor say that smoking will greatly increase your chance for getting lung cancer? Yes, and it's true even though the models can't accurately predict it and even though they don't understand everything involved in the process.

There is plenty of evidence to support that  other sources are to blame...why is that ignored?

And we seem to be going through a much cooler year...why is that?

Who are we to say what the optimum temperature is?

"There is plenty of evidence to support that other sources are to blame...why is that ignored?"

I'm not sure what you're referring to.

"And we seem to be going through a much cooler year...why is that?"

do you have a source for this? Even if it's true it's a single year. It will be significant if it's a trend. I make web sites and I watch the traffic grow and shrink. Some days it can go way down but the important thing is the general trend, not the single day.

"Who are we to say what the optimum temperature is?"

I have this weird belief. That we should try to behave in reasonable ways that increases our chances of not only survival, but also our chances of flourishing.

you know....that big fireball in the sky we like to call the sun....it heated up mars pretty good too....we are not there yet....so yeah...that.

The cooling thing was something I heard on the radio lately.

hmmmm.....so should we start logging again to keep the forests from burning down?
  • bloc said on Jul 06, 2007....
we do logging now. The choice isn't between logging and not logging. It's between logging sustainably vs things like clear cutting. It also isn't an either or choice. There many degrees between them. You should stop oversimplifying everything into irrational binary choices.
  • D6fer said on Jul 06, 2007....
doesn't sound like we are doing enough to "sustain" the forests if we are letting them burn does it?
  • NewsMan said on Jul 07, 2007....

D6fer - Remember the spotted owl? Those in the 90s were all worked up with efforts to save it from extinction; environmentalist forced a reduction in the American logging industry, creating an 80 percent reduction of logging on federal lands in the north western U.S.  Guess what? Now the owl is in "in danger" in northwest Canda. So last year,  reports AP, British Columbia's government has created the Spotted Owl Population Enhancement Team.  The team, is made up of a group of egg head reasearchers that recommended:  Capturing all the owl left in British Columbia, breeding them in zoos, and releasing them - but only if the Canadian government agrees to protect the areas where the owls are resettled.  You can't make this stuff up!  Pity those Canadian loggers.
