Dear Soulcasters:

I only have time for a quick blog, but recent events have left me with many questions.  I would like to ask you, my fellow soulcasters, to help me with your answers to these questions.

First, I have read many blogs about our nicknames, alternate personas, and I have even witnessed, or heard that some soulcasters have alternate nicknames/identities.  I could not imagine that...not for myself, I mean.  It would take too much thought and too much time.  Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive ; )  I like to tell the truth to myself and others, not just because it is 'higher moral ground', but also, I recognize the efficiency, or economy of the truth!

This is the basis of my query.  I have always tried to use genderless, ageless, raceless and nationality-neutral language, whenever possible.  I have eluded to my age as, well, probably older than most folks here on soulcast.  But I have been surprised by some people that I thought were very young, and found them to be around my age, or older.  So, I am reminded that, all too often, I can be mistaken in my 'read' on people.

I don't know why we do that, but it must be that most of us tend to 'picture' things from words, and also, of course, from the outright references to time periods, etc.  I think I have always thought of myself as old anyway ; )  "Wise for my years", or more new age, "a very old soul"...they would say.

But, I am curious.  Not that I will comment 'true' or 'false', but only provide answer if you will allow me to keep my anonymity, even as to my age, gender, race/nationality...now you know the nature of my questions.

Some of you do know more about my identity.  Please do your best to answer the way you perceived me, before you knew, if you please.  I am interested in that as well.  Gosh, I hope you all will take a few minutes to think about this, and share your answers.

Q #1
I am wondering how old you believe this soulcast "truthsayer" to be (approximately) and if you dare share, why do you believe this to be true?  This one should be pretty easy.  It is the one part of my identity that I probably guard the least. : )

Q #2
I am wondering what color, or race you suppose me to be, and why you might think that to be true.  I don't think I have ever said much about this at all, so I am really curious about this one!

Q #3
This third thing I am asking you, just to be thorough.  I can think of only one time that I might have referred to this...and it was a pretty popular post, so, some of you may have some good guesses or observations on 'nationality'.  But, I am curious as to who noticed, or if anyone was interested in my possible nationality.

Q #4
This is the one I have seen mentioned most often:  What gender is "truthsayer"?  Since I never participate in any blogs that are rated worse than PG ; )  I am wondering what you all think, and why you think what you think.  Be nice now ; )  I have really done my best to stay genderless on my blogs and in my comments.  But I am wondering how you will respond to these questions of mine....frankly, I am wondering how many of you will even respond at all!

I do have some thoughts on this, and after I have read a number of comments, I will add my thoughts on the subject to the body of this blog.  I really appreciate all of you that are willing to comment.  I guess I could add one more question.  It is kind of a polarheart-style question:

Q #5
Have any of you formed an overall mental picture of what I look like?  Would any of you be willing to share that here, much like polarheart's blog about what we think we all look like?

I really do have a theory here, so I hope that you will refrain, as best you can, from reading everyone elses responses, until you have posted your own thoughts on the questions.  I know it's hard to do...but do try, please : )  I have a game and I have been trying to think of a way to share it online.  It is a communication game, and so, Zayda might already know it.  Perhaps she would conspire with me on how to convert it for our fun, on soulcast ; )

Until then...

Yours,

truthsayer

#1.  I picture you as about 40-45 because of your intelligence.

#2.  I picture you as Caucasion, for no other reason than that I have a "mental picture" of you in my mind.

#3.  I picture you as American--only because of your precise grasp of the English language.

#4.  I picture you as male--again because of my mental image I first formed, and because of your blogs about nanotechnology.  That is a classic "assumption" thing.  But what I percieve.

#5.  Overall, I picture you as a middle-aged man, nice-looking in an average way, with a receding hair-line and a nice suit.  Maybe a nice smile and eyes, a little pudgy, but not fat.  Maybe black hair and brown eyes.  Your shoes are shiny and you jingle your change in your pockets, especially while waiting in line in a store.  You are a nice person, with a curious, wide-eyed expression, permanently etched in your face...

truth:  this is funny because i had a conversation with mobil not so long ago and he said you were a man, and i insisted no no no, truth is a woman.

the only thing i feel strongly about it you are a woman.  i haven't 'pictured' your race or nationality at all-  i think of you as late 40's or early 50's...

i know you have an older daughter- and a teenaged son.  this is what i base my guesses on.  also that you homeschool and for some reason i associate that with a mom.

    1. Mid to late 40s.
    2. Caucasian. It's tough to say why other than probability and assumption.
    3. U.S. citizen.
    4. Male.
    5. Balding but not shaved head. Male pattern baldness or maybe a widow's peak. Glasses. Probably trim or even a little thing -- neither muscular or pudgy. Much like a stereotypical male school teacher.

Heh. I've got it -- you're Mr. Hand from Fast Times at Ridgemont High!

  • Ransomed said on Jun 28, 2007....
    1. I think of you as mid 40s because of your references to your children.
    2. I think of you as white and I honestly can not tell you why.
    3. I think you are a US citizen because of things you said in your Memorial Day post and other comments like about your student loans.
    4. I think of you as a man. There is just something in your writing that makes me picture you like “Tsion Ben-Judah” from the Left Behind novels.
    5. I really don’t know why, but I see you as graying and with a beard. Not old looking at all, but seasoned. I have read most of your blogs, and perhaps if I had been reading you for a longer time, this would be different.

You really make me think Truthsayer and I would respect the ministry you have been given regardless of your true identity as defined by those questions. Since I am new to actually leaving comments, I doubt that you have a read on me, but some day it would be interesting to know what you think.

i picture you as a woman in her late 50's, who is at home with books, ideas and discussions. beyond that, i don't exert much effort to fill in the details re color, race, nationality, or physical appearance. just for my mind's convenience, i often attach generic visual avatars to other sc bloggers, which don't have to match the reality. i often visualize you as a slimmer version of kathy bates, with eyeglasses.

ok....let me start by saying that I am sorry that I haven't actually read your posts before...even though I have been subscribed to you for some time.....That is going to change! Excellent posts! Especially the one about patrick henry! (oops a clue)

    so here goes!

    1. I think you are precisley 49 years of age, I say that because of 2 things: A.) The age of your children.  And B.) The tone of your writing. I think you started having children later than most (30)

    2. I think you are caucasion....again the tone of your posts....the subject matter....and the point of view.....if anyone is offended...tough....TS asked, I answered.

    3. You are an American....this I know.

    4. Male.....Your occupation....writing tone....subject matter....all things point to male....although, there was one post in particular that threw me.....You had mentioned a past relationship with a friend.....also the fact that you are homeschooling your kids....that made me question it...I don't know why

    5. Hmmmmm.....I would say tall....6'4"....large boned but thin....thinning hair brown, with a touch of grey.

Hello Truth, I dont know if you recall, but in case you dont I said the following about you (some moons ago) on my post called WHAT DO YOU THINK WE LOOK LIKE:

Truthsayer - I think he is a big bear of a man!  I imagine him to have beautiful gentle eyes - probably light blue.  I think his hair may be dark blond and have a bit of a wave in it.  In my mind's eye I see him wearing a loose beige sweater over a colared shirt and loose comfy faded jeans.  The kind of person you just want to sit with and listen to for ages!

Since then, my perception of your outward appearance has changed, but my feelings about your inner-man are still the same :-)

I dislike trying to nail people down but if I had to guess, I'd say late 40s, Caucasian, American, and I'll be surprised if you're not a guy.

I don't really try to form mental images of people online (though anyone I read more than in passing develops personality colors in my mind, much like people I know IRL). I suppose I could tell you those, but they wouldn't mean anything to you.

I've read a few of your blogs and seen your comments around, but I don't think I'm really qualified to guess accurately. But for some reason, I'm going against the grain here and I think you are a woman around the age of 50. Most everyone else thinks you're a man (and they're probably right) but I feel the opposite for some reason....

I wouldn’t answer much differently than above, except in response to question four. I do believe you are female. That assumption is based off one of your comments somewhere, though I do not recall the thread.

    1. probably anywhere from 40-100 years old.  You seem to have mature views on things and I think part of that is life experience.

    2. No clue, it's never been important to me.

    3. Nothing to base it on, but I'm going to say Canadian?

    4. Male, but again, it's just a guess.

    5. I have no firm mental image, but I would imagine your face is kind, you have a nice smile, and for reasons I can't explain I think you wear glasses.

truth- Initially, don't know why, I had a small inclination to believe you were a woman. Since that time due to your writing style and many of the things you say now leads me to believe you are male.

Race, probably caucasian, no idea of nationality but raised in the US. I'd say you smile a lot and have good conversational skills. Age, about 50 and live in the country (or at least out of city limits).

You are totally true to your faith and things untoward embarrass and sometimes anger or upset you.

You have a wide range of interests and enjoy both reading and writing.

I wouldn't even begin to visualize what you look like- I'm not even certain of gender.

Unless you are a politician running for office, hunting for a job, standing before a client, or looking for a new partner, why on earth would you care what people think of you?  A true soul has no age, race, or gender.  You have a voice, and you simply put it down in words.  Don't ever let the opinions of people change the cry of your soul.

Now I haven't checked up on you to much like I would like to, but from the readings of your blogs this is what I've gotten about you so far. Oh now I see I cheated and I wasn't suppose to look at everyone elses answers, so mine are tainted now.

    1. Later 40's to 50's. Just because of your kids and the tone of experience you portray.

     2. I'll say white, just because it seems to fit.

    3. American I think maybe because of how your religious beliefs fit into that lifestyle for some reason.

    4. I say male because of your knowledge in science, which I know is steriotypical, but hey my science classes have mostly guys, and I suppose thats where 2 and 3 kind of come from too.

    5. For some strange reason I picture you like this one guy who I read his books and his religious beliefs are simliar to yours, he's an older white american guy with a white beard and he looks a little stern but overall like a nice fellow with glasses. I picture you with bright clothing or something funky, just because of how I think I've read how you came to your beliefs and that takes a person whose not afraid to show off their individuality. I'm hopeing I remember correctly! I'm sure I'm wrong in my assumptions, I do hate assuming, but my head does it anyway, so I'll be honest and admit this is what I perceived.

I see u reading and or sitting at a desk with glasses on. Lightish brown hair slightly graying an recedeing a bit. dressed in light brown dockers with light brown sweater type shirt on. Very distinctive handwriteing. I also see u possibly working on a book. or maybe already have writtin one. I have not read to many of ur posts an Iv only been to soulcast a short time, I hope I didnt just embarrass myself with all the wrong ansers. this is just my picture of u from reading u on other members post and a couple of ur own posts.

Very sweet attentive an calming to those around u. The voice of reason. Everybody should make a post like this and let people come an voice what they picture in the minds eye.

You were in my dream last night!  You were signing up for a new blog space and under a completely new 'nickname' and you were writing in a whole different vein too.  I don't have any real 'meaning' to it...just realized it as I was typing out your 'name'.

I thought you and mobil probably had a talk ; )  I find it interesting that most everyone guessed similar ages.  The fact that we homeschool shouldn't 'give it away', well, in a perfect world, both parents take responsibility for homeschooling their children.  Of the homeschooling families that we know, often the man will teach the science and math (there are those stereotypes again ; )  and the woman often may teach english and the arts...history may be a toss up ; )  But, in many homeschooling families, you are right, the woman will teach (pretty much) alone.

I am more interested in your 'feeling strongly' that I must be a woman, than I am in our stereo types, frankly.  Stereo types can serve to make our thinking simpler, as long as we don't generalize about everything, imho.

My apologies sir!  You were actually the first one to provide a picture!

Ages similar to most.  I noticed you said US Citizen, and others said American.  I wasn't very clear about nationality, was I?  I grew up in a city that had very different sections of the city, that were usually ethinically originated.  Other people may have 'moved in' but each area (except for the burbs) had a decidedly ethnic flavor.  We weren't anymore racist than any other city, but more that I felt we had a real appreciation of other cultures.  See, I have my own frame of reference too.

I was trying to enhance the race question further with nationality...it was incorrect on my part.  I should have said ethnic origin, not nationality.

I suppose all of my posts about America and her faith origins has to have tipped us off to my being an American. ; )

I wonder, if Jesus was walking among us today, talking to us in blogs and in the line at the store...I wonder how many of us would recognize him.  Even the disciples had to have a realization of him, when he visited with them after his ressurection.  I wonder if he would appear to us as 'he really is', or if in his infinite mercy, he would appear to us in a way that we could each understand and relate to.  If we have entertained angels unawares, who else might we have met along the way?

You definitely got the books, ideas and discussions', and glasses...well, reading glasses right!  Those things aren't limited by age, race, ethinicity, or gender, are they?  No, of course not.  Interesting description of the 'generic visual avatar' too.  I think, in all honesty, that most of us do this.  Unless we are an auditory learner however...they tend to need actual photographs to help their visual recall.  I have a friend that is a Master NLP Trainer and is almost completely auditory.  Not only do she and her husband have to take tons of photographs on their vacations, but she has to have objects that she can handle to help her remember places.  So, she isn't completely auditory...just almost completely auditory!

    Sweet polarheart:

I wonder what you thought when I answered that comment of yours...based on what I looked like, compared to the way you visualized me based on my writings.  I wondered if I would hurt your feelings by answering that I couldn't answer you, one way or another.  I wonder now, if you can remember back then, how that affected you.  Not that anything I could or couldn't do to anyone, would have much influence...but it would help me to know now, what to do now.

See, as I told you that day, it was supposed to be all about sharing my faith:  my relationship to my Creator and Savior...but, along the way, I let my humanity show on certain posts, because it seemed right.  It seemed to help people too.  So, I thought, maybe I should just go ahead and 'tell them who I am'.  But then, I would feel reticent, and ask my spouse, and even my son said not to yet.  But I have already relayed all of that to you at one time or another.  This 'ministry of writing' is the Lords.  It was never my own, just like I have never been 'my own'.  I want to do what he wants.  Just lately, I have been given permission to share, or tell, more

Dear Truth, I figured you had your reasons and it did not matter to me REALLY.  You are a vessel for the Father to use and what you look like and who you really are is actually irrelevant, what matter's most is that you are sincere, kind and compasionate.  His wisdom is there for all of us and by the way, I think you have a lot of wisdom. . .it is a blessing :-)  Our age, gender, nationality etc can never affect or predestine who we are in Messiah. . .we are all the same in Him.  I dont know if all of this helps you any?

Truthsayer - to answer your question -

I definitely believe that the Holy Spirit talks to us through other people all the time. I know there are messages, songs and yes, even blogs I have found out, that he uses to speak to my heart. I know it is him because my heart burns and I am often brought to tears when the message is from God. I praise God that in his infinite mercy, he or his messengers do not appear to us that often in all their Glory! All we would be able to do is put our face to floor and tremble just like others that have been that close.

I completely agree about the nationality/ethnicity and language thing.  Funny you should have chosen Nigeria as your example.  I once had an online 'friend' from Nigeria, that I used to chat with.  I had no idea.  I never pictured any race/ethinic group, but it came up one time as we were discussing a Nigerian restaurant I loved in Oakland, California.  We had been chatting for over six months, and we both protected our anonymity.  If it hadn't been for discussing that restaurant, we probably never would have asked each other about it.

I am not sure how I will answer those questions yet husbandhater.  Like I said in the blog, although I may choose to reveal more, I may want to maintain my anonymity much as it has been, so far.  Don't get me wrong...it is always MY personal inclination to share more, rather than less.  I am considered to be very forthcoming and 'transparent' IRL.  And I must confess, sometimes, the maturity of wisdom that you sense coming from me, is not always my own you know.  Amazing things can come out of all of us, with prayer and full surrender to His will.

Your brief comment warms my heart though, and makes me know it's all worth it.  I am glad to know that you read me.  I have felt such surprise, and I am moved at all the people that read me, and that I have never 'met' before this post.  I must say, that makes me wonder even more about 'what to do now'.  Bless you.

Honestly, no, I don't really NEED to know. I do like knowing who I'm talking to though. At least in terms of gender. But it certainly isn't necessary to conversation. It just makes it easier in terms of relating to someone. Mostly, it's just a curiosity though.

    Wow, beyondtheveil:

You do have a gift for observation, don't you?  : )  Aside from the gender thing, which I have hidden, you remember even some obscure conversations.  I hope and pray that I am true to my faith, and that when I go beyond the veil, at last, that I hear that from the One that is the true Judge.  In the meantime, hearing that, from you, is good medicine and just what I needed today.

As to the tone of my writing, I suppose that comes, in part, from one of my professors as well.  She was Brittish and very proper.  She was very hard on me and she was a stickler for our writing being neutral.  She really pushed me to publish (and wasn't all that nice about it either...but that's another blog ; )

I never really thought about that until now.  It wasn't hard for me initially in soulcast.  It was like writing an article, or an essay, or a position paper.  We rarely write using "I" phrases, so there is little occasion to refer to "oneself" (see, there I go again ; ) in any terms at all!

Guess who's back?  Sorry for the absence.  Dad passed away, leaving me an orphan now, and I haven't felt like talking much.  Maybe I still don't feel like talking.  Anyhow, I came back on-line and had to check in to see how you were doing.

I'll play your silly game!  I'm responding before looking at anyone else's answers, (as requested,) and I'd say you are in your mid-thirties, you're black, your nationality is Jamaican, and you are a woman.  I don't have a good grasp on what you look like, but I would guess thin before heavy, younger than your age and short hair.  Your genes gave you a short back and long legs, a medium amount of "junk-in-the-trunk" and narrow feet.

As for where these perceptions come from, the only easy one to answer is the "why-I-think-you-are-a-woman" one.  It is the use of the language and your general inability to form a clear picture of what you are thinking with logical trains of thought.  You would have to know what I know about the differences between the female brain and the male brain to understand why you shouldn't be offended by that comment.

Having shared my perceptions makes me wonder just how far off base I am!

Thanks for all of the wisdom you have imparted to me, and reminded me of.  Sometimes we all forget to follow our own rules...the ones that we took the time to learn, form and revise for just such an occasion : )  We ALL do it from time to time...we forget who WE are and start acting, or being tempted to act, like others expect us to act.

You have been a faithful friend in so many ways.  I am still amazed by the 'goodness' that can be found on the internet, as well as the other influences.  I guess we can all thank the Lord for being the real and true Gate Keeper of our lives and hearts, can't we?

Hi buck, I hope you saw my other comments about your loss.  I am so sorry buck.  Please accept our condolences (me and my spouse).  We often do this blog thing together.  I am just the writer.  I take the ideas and paint the pictures with words.

I did have to read your description to my spouse, I hope you don't mind : )  We do share so many things, and the counsel of two is better than one, right?  We had a good chuckle, but admired the creativity of your response ; )  I'll grant you this part:  "I would guess thin before heavy, younger than your age", but I remind you that there may be a very few number of us, statistically speaking...but we do exist ; ) There are those of us that are right brain/left brain integrated.

But, I am not very linear.  I had a very smart professor that was very linear.  We just didn't get each other, no matter how hard we tried.  I couldn't have ever been a grad assistant to him.  It would have been a disaster!  I don't think that all the men on soulcast would agree with you, that I have trouble putting my thoughts into words (but I am not sure).  What I do in my mind though, isn't very common.  My mind is extremely abstract.  I have blogged about that enough I think ; )

Ethnic diversity coupled with a modicum of harmony and respect is not the norm in most cities I have lived in so... hum... since I am a self taught back woods citizen, as opposed to a consumer, I am stumped.

First and foremost I admire the strength of your courage to ask people about yourself. What it turns out that the description stinks ,hurts or rather discouraging.

I try to draw this parrallel when  Lord Jesus asked his disciple who the people says He was? Alot of them was close to the answer but only his close disciple got it right and that is Apostle Peter.

Here we hope to have the mind of Apostle Peter but not his heart because I guess we are not your disciple .

    Q #1
My good guess is "truthsayer" to be (approximately) not old as he sounds because your writing though sounds like a wise old man , but the you are energertic, mature ,real with time and intelligent, I think you should be in your mid 30 ( 33~37)
    Q #2
As for the color, or race  I am sure your blood is red like mine .You are not true to your words but why you ask this question about race as it will discribe race along the the description. I guess you are not white because you are culture to be bmore philosphical in your content and contacts in your writing.Sorry I dont mean white are not philosophical but the view of aspects of life.

    Q #3
I am interseted ,what make up of you. I guess more asian in nature. Cannot make it out.
    Q #4
I am quite positive you are a female.

    Q #5
    Very elegant and refine looking.

Hi Genevince. Welcome to my blog.

Sorry. I almost missed this. I just saw your comment today.

In the begining of your comment, you called me a male. That is what people usually "see me" as, by my writing style. But you are right. I recently disclosed that I am a female.

As to my elegance or refined appearance, well, that was very sweet. I don't think I would be a good one to ask about that however. Back in the day when Elior was around (who I have also recently disclosed, that he is/was my husband), you might have been able to ask him. But he is gone. For now, I guess it just depends on whether I am working...inside or out ; )

Again, welcome. I am around every few days. Sometimes, I am not around for weeks or months at a time. But thanks for stopping in to say, "hey".

    Blessings,

    Truthsayer
