Okay by popular demand from Destiny Diva, I will do an astrology lesson here.

Astrology isn't about constellations.  The position of constellations is irrelevant to most of it.  It is about angles.  It's all math.  When people correctly point out that the signs of the zodiac no longer line up with the constellations, the reason is that when astrology was first thought up, they did, but they moved since then.

What is a constellation anyway?  It's nothing.  The stars in the Big Dipper don't know they are in the Big Dipper and have nothing to do with each other.  The stars in the zodiac constellations have nothing to do with each other either.  They are just convenient ways to identify points in the sky.

The zodiac is a belt around the sky, in which the planets appear to travel.

The zodiac begins with the point in the sky where Pisces meets Aries.  The spot in the zodiac that the Sun occupies on the day of the Spring Equinox.  That is the first point of the zodiac, where Pisces ends and Aries begins.

That point, right now, falls somewhere between the constellations Pisces and Aquarius.  That's why people say that we are leaving the Age of Pisces and entering the Age of Aquarius.  There is a new age every 2,000 years or so.   That's how long it takes for the constellations to shift a whole sign.

What does the Age of Pisces mean?  In what way does the sign Pisces describe the years from 0 to 2000?  I donno.  Probably has something to do with Jesus Christ.  The Age of Pisces is the age of Jesus.  Think about it.

So from about 2000 to 4000 we'll be in the Age of Aquarius.  What difference will that make?  I donno.  What do you think?  Judging from the pain in the ass Aquarians I have known, they are no better than the pain in the ass Pisces I have known.

When you are born, when the umbilical cord is cut and you take your first breath, you are imprinted with all of the mysterious connections from the planets and signs around you.  That sounds weird, doesn't it.  Your brain suddenly makes contact with the outside universe on its own, and receives an imprint that lasts a lifetime.  The positions of planets, the angles, the everything, all has some sort of magical effect on the baby.

Sounds like sci fi, I know.  Sounds ridiculous.

Then again, have you read Stephen Hawking?  Have you read string theory, quantum physics, supersymmetry, supergravity, 10 or 11 dimensions, alternate universes?  Hey.  If you think astrology sounds drunk, read some science.  For real.  I'm not joking.

So, we start off with this imprint, this photograph, of the solar system.  Each planet is located in a particular sign.  The Sun is in Sagittarius.  The Moon is in Pisces, maybe.  Mercury is in Whatever.  And on through Pluto, and several planets beyond Pluto.  I know that Pluto was officially demoted, erased from the list of planets, but that makes no difference.  It's out there, whatever the hell it is, and it has been shown to have an effect.

Your Sun sign is the single most important astrological factor.  The Sun is a big deal in our solar system.  Each sign is divided into three sections, each section about 10 days long.   The sections are called decans.  You may be a first decan Sag, or a second decan Sag, or a third decan Sag, depending on whether you were born in the first 10 days of the sign, the second 10, or the last 10.  To find out for sure, you look up your birth date and time in an ephemeris.  It tells you that the Sun was in 10 degrees and 22 minutes of Sag at your birth, placing you in the second decan, since it is not within the first 10 degrees of the sign.  Each decan has its own reading, its own personality.  Every sign has 30 degrees.

It gets more intricate than that.  If your Sun was in 10 and a fraction degrees of Sag at your birth, it is in the 11th degree of Sagittarius, and the 11th degree of Sag means something.  It's different from the 12th degree.  There are sets of readings that explain each degree separately.  Each degree has a set of images associated with it.

For example, the 12th degree of Sagittarius, according to the astrologer known by the pseudonym Charubel, is symbolized by a big dork picking his nose.  The great astrologer known as Sepharial symbolizes the 12th degree of Sag with the symbol of a grown man killing a pig.  The great astrologer Marc Edmund Jones used psychic cripple Elsie Wheeler of San Diego to come up with the Sabian Symbols.  The Sabian Symbol for the 12th degree of Sagittarius is a farmer having a sexual encounter with a sheep.  These symbols all show us various aspects of people born when the Sun was in the 12th degree of Sagittarius.

Okay, duh, I made the symbols up, but you get the point.

So the Sun has a sign, a decan, and an exact degree, and each of these things has meaning.  So does the Moon.  So do Mercury, Venus, and so on, all the way out to icy Pluto.

I hope you are taking careful notes about this.  If anyone wants to know anything else, I'll do a second lesson.  I'll tell you about the "houses" or the "aspects".  That should shut you up for five minutes.

This is fun.

I used to like astrology. even read my horoscopes from time to time. but now that you put it this way, I don't think so. hehe. :)

daily newspaper horoscopes are utterly worthless.  any relationship between them and reality is pure coincidence.  in order to determine what astrological influences are operating for you on a given day, you need to have your chart done and look for aspects.  just knowing your sun sign will not give you any information at all.

I also think so. But daily horoscopes can be amusing at times. Especially when you read a newspaper and all it will tell you is how much the economy have declined and the rate of crimes going up. your post is informative. I'll make better sense of it if I'm not this stressed. :) keep lecturing.
