"The new Army field manual, published the next day, said that interrogators were forbidden to employ a long list of techniques that had been used against suspected terrorists since Sept. 11, 2001 -- including stripping, hooding, inflicting pain and forcing the performance of sex acts." source

Can anyone explain to me why low level soldiers are in prison for this and not the politicians who authorized it?

Is that the smell of liberal axes grinding?

Face it. Politics has become a game of name calling and character assassination.
Who do you believe any more? I barely believe anyone, especially a couple of
would be The pendulum swings left (with Carter), right (with Regan / Bush sr.),
left (with Clinton), and right (with Bush jr.). I think I read in your link that Bush
signed McCain's bill and no doubt the pendulum with swing left again soon. Unless
the Democrats spaz out and offer Hillary and/or Obama. I would rather have Bush
and Cheney overdoing it and having to be kept in check than socialist/communist
Democrats handing our heads to terrorists on a platter.

This country did not get where it is today by our founders marching out like the
British, in rows and columns, and getting their heads blown off. They did whatever
it took to be free. Our good leaders still meet force with force, and sometimes
they go too far. Unlike you, I would rather just try to hold them back, keep them
in check, instead of stab them in the back, which is what you seem to advocate.

Methinks that our friend Alienated would sing a different tune if the so-called enemy combatants being treated in this manner looked a lot more like him and were Christians.
  • bloc said on Jun 26, 2007....
His lunatic rantings are amusing at this point. Each one makes him less credible. I remember when he called me names for suggesting that the Bush Admin used torture. He didn't believe they would ever do such a thing and I was a terrible person for saying it. Now that it's overwhelming clear that they did he defends it.

    zero integrity
  • lioneljay said on Jun 26, 2007....
    Zero gravity, too. ;)

silverweenie, I know you hate things that are flaccid. Sorry. Are we sure
that picture, above, did not take place at one of your man-boy parties?

bloc, if you had another song to sing someone might sing along, but this
tune is no longer appealing, and totally old news. I cannot figure out
your motivation to keep running this in the ground except your rabid
hatred of Bush and, evidently, Chaney.

LJ, I figure Christians will be thrown to the "lions" again soon considering
what I hear around this place and on the nightly news. The way you guys
seem to love our enemies, I can only think you will change uniforms as
soon as they take over. And no one will be able to tell any difference in
    you.

And my question for all of you is: do you really believe the president and
vice president are as evil as the liberal media makes them out to be? Is
there just no doubt in your minds that they maybe are just trying to
protect our country? However, I have to admit, considering the immigration
crap they are trying to pass, they may not be evil, but they may be morons,
    Democrats and Republicans.

"I cannot figure out your motivation to keep running this in the ground"

That's like asking why someone like Henry David Thoreau kept talking against slavery. Maybe it's to help make the practice stop. Should we sit idly by while our leaders torture people in our names with our tax dollars? Should we do the same when they remove due process from Americans?
  • lioneljay said on Jun 27, 2007....
@Alien, yes I really do believe that the President and Vice President are evil.

You see, Alien, I believe this because what I see in "the liberal media" is things like reproductions of memoes that clearly implicate them in evil actions. The "liberal media" isn't making up those memoes or the testimony of Alberto Gonzalez before Congress, or the thousands of emails that were released to Congress. You can't argue with reality, or at least it's pretty damned stupid to do so.
  • bloc said on Jun 27, 2007....
    @lionel
did you see the post where I talked about the memo's with alien? He wouldn't read them. He's created a systematic way to only believe what he wants to believe.

He's asked if the photo's from abu ghraib are real numerous times. He doesn't want to know if they are real, he wants to give himself that out each time they come up!
  • lioneljay said on Jun 27, 2007....
Of course he does that...it's the classic sidestep of the wingnuts. They ask seemingly rhetorical questions about a proven fact as a way of suggesting that the proof isn't real. Example: "Do we really know the truth about Joseph Wilson's trip to Niger?" as a way of distracting their audience from the jury-proven truths of the Scooter Libby trial.
  • bloc said on Jun 27, 2007....
then they combine that with what I call the cluster bomb technique. They through out enough garbage that no normal person wants to wade through it. This is aliens tool of choice.

bloc has integrity, alienated. it's why even when you stop to child-like name-calling
and the like as an evasion from your untenable positions, he doesn't respond in kind.

that makes him a better person than me and i'm OK with that.

Yeah, wrong again my flaccid friend. Luckily, you guys are the only ones who
can go back and read your stupid statements. He is not only calling me names,
he is calling "they" names. Whoever "they" are. Oh yeah, wingnuts. Is calling
someone a wingnut not name calling? Yeah, that is real integrity. More liberal
blindness to your own faults. Man oh man, what integrity.

  • silverwhisper said on Jun 29, 2007....
alienated, why are you so interested in the flaccidity of my friend? you're making me wonder. :>

"wingnuts" is perfectly appropriate for someone who steadfastly believes as you do that bush should be sainted or some other equally ridiculous thing.

I've stopped engaging alien's name calling. It's used to distract from his inability to discuss the topic at hand. I like to leave his fish out of water replies in the clear.

He still hasn't discussed the memo's or the pictures in any meaningful way. He claims to be against torture, yet he goes out of his way to hide and minimize the reality of it. Jesus would be proud :/
  • D6fer said on Jun 29, 2007....
do we know for a fact that this photo is of the prisoners in question? the mainstream media has a way with embelishing these types of stories....complete with doctored photos....remember the added smoke in the pics of the bombings in Iraq was it?
  • ALIENated said on Jun 30, 2007....
Translation: liberals can do and say whatever they want, like calling people names,
and it is perfectly alright because they are lberals and anything they do is the
    right thing to do.

I think I will write a post about forced sex under the Clinton administration.
Which is more disturbing: mistreating terrorist prisioners or taking advantange of
young girls because you have political power? Hmmmmm

D6fer: yes, that is what these morons cannot, or will not, understand. I do not
disagree so much with what they are saying, but whether what they are saying
is accurate. I mean look at some of the sources -- Jon Stewart, Andrew Sullivan,
NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN. Man oh man.
