these are just some tips or tricks i've learned in my time on soulcast. when you use a site as intensively as i have, you learn some things about it.
1. let people know that you exist in the first place by finding a few blog entries from the featured posts list that interest you. if you comment meaningfully, people will find you and be interested in what you have to say.
2. my users and my conversations are indispensable. however, don't ignore the most recent page, which is how i and others often find newcomers.
3. if you use the ' or " characters in the title of a blog entry, creating a link to it will be tricky--consider avoiding them if you can.
4. the little flags next to each person's comment in a blog entry (known as postmarks) serve 2 purposes: to hide comments you've already viewed--very helpful in a blog entry with a lot of comments; and add the blog entry to your my conversations page without your having to comment. use them just by clicking on the flag of the last comment you want to hide.
5. if you have a technical problem with the site, please don't blog it on your own blog page: blog it here. be sure you tell them who you are, what computer operating system you use, what web browser and what version of it, and lastly, confirm that java is enabled.
i know i'm just scratching the surface, esp because it's early and i'm undercaffeinated, but c'mon guys, i know there's a bunch of other hints/suggestions that we all might have benefitted from when we all first got here--what ones did i miss?
