Hello!

I would just like to hear people's opinion on marijuana. I do not find this "drug" as a narcotic (there are everyday products that we use that have more chemicals than marijuana). I'm just curious on how people think that it's a really bad drug...if that's the case shouldn't alcohol be banned as well? To my it's like alcohol, take it in moderation and don't drive under the influence. And the comment on "it's a gateway drug" I am very glad to say that it's the only "drug" I have done. Depends who you buy it from...therefore you should ALWAYS be careful when purchasing, and I was NEVER tempted to try chemical drugs, I just stick to the natural things. Maybe it's just me who has good self control? Honestly where I live small marijuana amounts are barely ever punished. IT'S NOT LEGAL IN CANADA, everybody seems to think it is for some reason!

personally, it ain't for me: don't like the high and i hate tracers. i'm usually a pretty easygoing sort: i don't really need pharmacological help to be that way. :> i think it's goofy to punish pot use, although i do think that as regards driving, it should be treated like alcohol. ed

How interesting! I use Marijuana regularly and I still manage to get up and do my everyday things such as work and more work..:) It is illegal here in the state of New York, but I can get the substance prescribed to me through the form of "Marinol". I take medications daily and the side effects from those drugs are more severe than anything I've experienced usind Marijuana. Of course there are limitations, such as care giving for the elderly or children, or even operating heavy machinery including driving. Its considered a drug for many reasons, one of them being that it does effect your motor and judgement skills. However, I find it to be very relaxing and it keeps me from feeling nauseated, depressed and numbs many pains/aches associated with my meds. Another upside, because I feel too sick sometimes to even eat, it does increase my appetite. As an aspiring writer, might I also add that it does increase my creativity.

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with marijuana it helps people relax, relieves pain, helps people eat, etc There are far worse substances out there such as alcohol..how many stoned people do you know who start fights and are abusive my guess is very few. It's about time the governments legalise this very helpful herb.

i definitely think it should be legal. my 25 yr old just got busted for 9 plants..it's crazy! i did a blog on it so i wont get started on that again. self control and moderation are the key words i think... i don't care for the high myself. i agree with purple, seems the more some people drink, the more they think they can drive, where as in my experience the more they smoke the more they just want to chill. too much effort to drive. still, "all things in moderation..."

There is nothing wrong with the drug. It relaxes you and lets you enjoy life a little more. On the subject of alcohol versus marijuana, I would much rather have someone who is high behind the wheel at 3am than someone who is drunk. If someone who is high decides to venture out, they are very aware of everything around them and concentrate even more. Whereas if you have a drunk behind the wheel, they aren't thinking at all. It does help with your creative writing and the sex is great - once you motivate yourself to move. It is not a gateway drug like everyone believes. Most of the people I know who do it, do not do other drugs. It's less harmful than alcohol and there has not been reported case in history of anyone dying from it. Every other drug in the world has at least one reported case of overdose, marijuana is the only one in the world that has never had anyone die of an overdose. If you want to take a look at a really good book, look at the "Emperor's New Clothes". It gives fascinating facts on how the economy could live off of the drug and diminish the use of fossil fuels. Thanks for the post.

Without pot, I would not have turned my life around from being anorexic. I am 5'6" and when I graduated college I weighed 103lbs. I looked like a skeleton and subsisted on a diet of cigarettes and "WOW" brand chips (you know, the ones that contain Olean, which causes anal leakage). Fortunately, I do not suffer from that side effect of the chips, but my stomach is definitely f*ed up from eating that crap. The lovely herb has helped me to regain my hunger and love for food. I plumped back up to a "normal" weight and everyone tells me I look so much better. Phramaceuticals are like a million times worse for you than pot; it is the pharmaceutical lobbyists that have kept the drug illegal. You can grow pot in your back yard and never need pharmaceuticals ever again. The big companies don't want you to do that; how would they earn their $$$? So, they have lobbied Washington to keep pot illegal. And now, with the Patriot Act, buying dope makes you a terrorist. Is this country for real? Thomas Jefferson grew hemp. Hemp was used to make ropes on the US Navy's original fleets. You know who originally lobbied to make marijuana illegal? Our good friends at DuPont, who invented nylon rope. They wanted to replace the hemp rope (which is just as strong and durable as nylon (and cheaper)) with their new nylon invention. Just another capitalistic scheme to keep me down. I hate the "man."

Nothing wrong with it in moderation; safer and friendlier than alcohol. (Who ever heard of stoners having a bar brawl? haha)

It is total foolishness that it is illegal.

First, congrats on sticking to just the "naturals". I used to be the same exact way. I smoke pot, pretty much every day. For quite a few years now. The problem I will only admit on the internet is this.....you really do loose interest in things. When I first started smoking pot, I was an extrovert and would only smoke with friends and never bought it. Now I am an introvert (working on it) and dont even most of the activities I used too...this is increased due to depression but much worse after I started smoking. At this point, when I wake up in the morning, just like a crack head I have to know where I am going to get pot for the day and prefer to have it already. Its what I look forward to at the end of the day, and it gets me thro the boring days. I really do find myself, choosing pot over doing takeing care of a priority. Some days it got to the point, where I would not have gone to school if it wasnt for the fact thats where I had to get my pot. Im finally getting back on track, going out like I used to. Going a day here or there without it, it really truley is addicting so please just be careful. Keep it in moderation, not everyday! And dont get curious about other things....I did, and regret it more than anything.....ever. If its under control it really is much much safer and not as damaging to ur health as alcohol is. Only reason its not legal is the government cant control the taxes on it. Happy smoking! Puff puff pass.....:)

I listen to the drunk people fight in the alley, and wonder how I was ever one of them. I get worn out after I spend 3 hours with a human that wants interaction, including my husband....
