hi HH~~~
I believe you are correct. There is not half as much media
preparation, or even sometimes personal preperation,
as there seems to be with Mother's Day.
I personally believe that as our culture has changed and
the picture of Dad is no longer the fun guy outdoors playing
with the kids, teaching them how to ride bikes, and fish and
hang around in the garage. The more frequent picture of
Dad, is an empty frame, in a house with a fatherless child(ren).
That is increasingly becoming the norm in society today,
especially in the big cities.
Personally, none of my kids called their Dads (2 different Dads)
to say happy father's day. And they are all of age to make
their own decisions. As my older son said "thank him for
what? For never being there? for never paying any child
support, for making a million promises he never kept? for
making you struggle alone Mom? For beating you up?
Hell, no I'm not calling him".
That pretty much says it all in a nutshell.
