Happy Father's Day!! To all the cool daddies out there... rest, relaxation is the main ingredient today. Right? How do you plan to spend your Father's Day??
the mrs and i drove up to church, then went on to my parents' place where she made dinner: roasted vegetables with balsamic vinegar, roasted potatoes with a little chive and butter, caesar salad (my dad's favorite), mango salsa and orange roughy fillets cooked en papillote. it was mighty darned tasty! :>
oo, she also made a berry tart. the pastry cream was absolutely wonderful. :D
Nice to hear from you. Yeah... I was hoping to see what Father's Day traditions were out there.
Your day sounds wonderful. Wow... wish I could cook like that... what is "en papillote"? Sounds difficult.........
We had a nice day. Husband, much more relaxed now-a-days, slept in. I made a nice, cholesterol-friendly breakfast (doesn't sound too yummy, but it was good... egg-white, turkey ham, fresh mushrooms, a little cheddar and spices omelets, golden whole wheat buscuits, fresh fruit). We took the kids to hit range balls, eat ice cream and go goofy golfing. Hot (here in Florida), but very nice. Then, hit the pool, husband watched end of US Open, had mom and dad over for dinner (I cooked again... glad to. Shishkabob and teriyaki chicken, rice, etc...). Swimming. Good day.
sorry: en papillote is the french term for cooking something in the oven in a paper bag of some sort--in htis case, parchment paper. it's one of my favorite ways to cook fish because it helps keep the fish nice and moist.
oo, omelettes--yum! that sounds really, really good!
