minniemouse: my hobbies are going out on a nice day and either go to the NC Emerald Mine to look for emeralds and other semi precious stones, and my other hobby is to take my Metal Detector out to see if I can find some old coins and jewelry. Both are alot of fun!

Cool Froggie!!  Ever find any neat stuff?  :-)  MM

I have alot of emeralds in their raw form, and alot of other stones, like Garnets, topaz, aqua marine, moonstone. I have a Bunch! I find them in the creek here in NC who is famous for the only spot in the US to find the Emerald. Send me your address and I'll send you some. Private messaging of course. As for Metal Detecting, Ive found a few old 1930's pennies, nichols, and dimes, and a pocket knife.

i bought my kids one of those metal detectors to take to the beach.

i always see people there with them and wonder what treasures they might find.  so far they haven't found much besides a few coins....

i'm one of those people who do crafts-  i've tried just about all of them at one time or another.

when my kids were small i painted clothes and shoes...

i've stenciled and done tons of things with paint finishes-  my kitchen i did in venetian plaster, my office has a wall done in granite paint, my foyer and living room i've done sponging....i even painted a sky on the ceiling of my son's room

i  make wreaths from silk flowers...have done arrangements....i've done dried flower sprays for over doorways...

i've got a few pots outside where i tried my hand at mosaic...

you name it, i've probably tried it.

You sound very talented like my mother was She used to tell us when we were kids how poor they were raising us that she couldnt  afford to buy a rug for the floor so she elegently painted one. It sure looked real! Have a great day :) jen

I do a lot of needle and thread crafts.  I have embroidered, cross stitched, sewn, knit and crocheted and a couple of runs at quilting.  I also did a lot of beading and wire wrapping/sculpting.  My favorite wire wrap was a leather journal that I attached wirewrapped beads and stones to.

I like to play with computer graphics and have "colorized" an old b&w picture of my grandfather who passed away before color pictures.  After using skin tones from the relatives that looked most like him my aunts were shocked at how close it came.

Spending time with animals  (not the human kind!) is my great hobbie in life. Once I return to SA and or settle whereever,  I will start with pigeon racing again. I am also going to buy me some German Shephards. Breed and sell.

My other hobby will be chasing you little mouse!!!

    Hobbies, hobbies, hobbies?........mmmm ya
  • minniemouse said on Jun 16, 2007....

Unique- you sound like you do alot!  I have always wanted to learn how to knit.  My grandmother taught me how to crochet, but I don't do it well enough to actually make anything.  It is something I want to learn to do eventually.  :-)

Sweet- Your needle works sound nice...do you hang them up in your house?  I am also an avid reader and I love my books...I never considered it a hobby before, but I guess it is!  Now I have one!  :-)

King- animals, huh?  That is awesome.  My daughter loves animals and she has said that she wants to be a Veterinarian someday.  Maybe she can take care of your animals!  Of course, she wants to be a Vet on odd days...even days she wants to be a dancer, so we shall see!!  :-)  MM

Oops!!  Dr. Dan...I forgot you!  How in the world could I do that!  Maybe its because you didn't say anything in your post!!!

So what are your hobbies besides flirting????

  • quietone said on Jun 16, 2007....

I am like secretlife, I have done and still do at times most everything.  I have a whole room just for crafts, sewing, oil painting, and photography. I even got myself a scroll saw but am afraid to use it.

kingcobra ~ I never heard of pigeon racing.  what in the world is that??

I like to read, write, draw, paint, and I like to work on my motorbike rebuild. I also like to download pictures of the Earth using my Bearcat radio through my soundcard. I am a mechanic, so I like anything mechanical. As you can guess I am also the family handyman.

My only drawback is I sometimes lose interest in most of these hobbies. I was the same at work! once I had mastered something, I didn't want to do it again!

Hobbies besides blogging?? I'm here so much, when would I have time for anything else? :-P But seriously, I do have a few hobbies that I enjoy. I like to build model cars sometimes. And I definitely like to read. Is reading a hobby? I also collect stuff, like action figures and comic books.

Hi quietone!  Photograpy is a hobbie of mine as well, I haven't been into it much lately though.  I think I will pick it up again this summer.  What is a scroll saw?   A while back Kingcobra posted something on his pigeons...maybe we can pester him to post some more!  :-)

Dr. D....you are SO naughty!!  ;-)  MM

Beaker......Well at least you finish!  Its ok that you master something you don't want to do it any longer....just means you want to keep learning new things!!  My husband likes to try new things all the time too, however, he loses interest halfway through and never finishes!!  Grrrr.....  :-)  MM

evil_twin....I definitely think reading is a hobbie....I love to read as well.  I think that I don't do it as much now that I have become an addict to this site!!!  I think you might have a new hobbie now......action figure porn!!!  LOL   ;-)  MM

  • sweet_cookie01 said on Jun 17, 2007....
oh we do hang them around the house... we hardly have enough place to hang the rest! you can go to my blog and look at them under the post MY NEEDLE WORKS.
  • quietone said on Jun 17, 2007....
MM ~ a scroll saw is like a band saw you can make very fancy woodwork with one.  I always wanted to try, now I am afraid I will cut my fingers off.....so it sits. and yes, I have already asked KC to continue the pigeon saga too.
please do pick up that camera, and post some stuff, I love looking at photos...as well as taking them
