I loooooooooove Elmo, he's so vibrant and funny!  I think I could just squeeze him :-)

My fave has always been Count von Count, though I also liked the guys who could honk their noses.

    Definately Grover.
Its a bird, its a plane, its....SUPER GROVER!
And the way he is always working where that blue guy goes...lmao

Elmo irritates the piss out of me.  My son loves him, and kids far and wide love him, but I seriously feel aitated when I have to watch him.

I also like the guys that go "yip yip yip, uh huuuuuh".    The nose honkers were awesome as a kid too.

I was always an Oscar fan.  Must have been due to his being the polar opposite of my optimism growing up.
  • fearing said on Jun 15, 2007....
Oh, I loved Oscar too!  But, I think my favorite was Mr. Snuffaluffagus......or however you spell that.

Cookie monster is definitely one of my favs - perhaps because we share similar eating habits!  LOL

I also love Bert and Ernie - Bert is my alter ego.  We even have the same eyebrows, except I wax!

Bert and Ernie--after all, they're a package deal.  Elmo is the spawn of Satan.
  • Zayda said on Jun 15, 2007....
Count von Count, Snuffaluffagus, Oscar, and Grover. (I didn't have just one favorite.)

And I agree with Eilan, Elmo is the Spawn of Satan.

Why is it called Sesame Street? Is it in ChinaTown? Really, seriously. Why?

Anyhow, I know this for sure.... I hate Elmo. He's annoying. Anyone who continuously talks in 3rd person should be shot. I always liked Bert and Ernie. And I love Count von Count. Ah-ah-ah! I like Grover's best friend, Herry Monster. I think my all time favorite has to be the Two Headed Monster though. I love him! Oh! And Kermit is way up there too!!

Aloysius Snuffleupagus is his given name BTW. :)

Zoey is so cute! My other favs are definetely Big Bird (so sweet and naive), the Count and Elmo (but taken a small doses..after a while his voice starts to drill in my ears).....
  • LadyGamer said on Jun 15, 2007....

Kermit the Frog was a star on both Sesame and Muppet show.

I LOVED Kermit because he ran the whole gammut of emotions. He always seemed to be feeling blue just when I was and it always made me feel as if somewhere in the world, someone understood me.

And he was a reporter, just like I always wanted to be.

ali: you know, i've wondered why it's called that myself once or twice. hm...i don't recall either herry monster or the two-headed monster. your last sentence, btw: just plain cool. :>

GS: heh...i know what you mean about elmo's voice after a while. :D

LG: i'm surprised nobody's mentioned kermit until you, to be honest!

destiny: now i feel old--never watched muppet babies.. :<

jenna: i can totally see you as a big bird fan. :D

I always likes Miss Piggy and Oscar the Grouch.  I think the fact that both of them were so opinionated and outspoken appealed to me since I was very shy as a kid.
  • botoni said on Jun 15, 2007....
Oscar the Grouch has been one of my favorites for a very long time. Its because my oldest daughter, when barely old enough to talk, would see a garbage can. She would point and excitedly shout OKKAR OKKAR!
My other favorite is Cookie Monster. I ve tried and tried but no matter how many cookies I eat my fur never turns blue!
  • NotSoSinglechick25 said on Jun 15, 2007....
Oscar The Grouch, baby!  I love him so much that I named my dog Oscar and I even have Oscar the Grouch panties that say "I Love Trash" on the butt!

I have no favorite characters as I have always, ALWAYS hated Sesame Street.

I just wanted to point out that on your page, 6 of your blogs' descriptions are "It's a simple question".  Do you think we're simple minded?

Sorry....I couldn't help myself! Big Bird & Bert & Ernie were my favorites.... I was a sesame street addict.

I always considered Elmo a bit of a narcissist. He refers to himself in the third person and has his own segment in the show. But I do like the Count, mostly for his awesome accent but also because he seemed to tick people off with his numerical antics.

More than anything, I've always had a love for those animated sequences they have. Nothing beats that animation with the pinball machine, counting up to 12.

I guess mine would be Mr.Snuffaluffagus, followed closely by Burt and Ernie..lol. When I was a little girl watching Sesame Street, my dad could laugh just like Burt..I would love that..hahah
  • lfbno7 said on Jun 17, 2007....
alison, i think they called it sesame street because of the phrase open sesame, a phrase that leads you to a world of magic.

my favorite sesame street characters were grover and super grover.  super grover is my hero.  and grover is cute.

i also like the creatures that go yip yip yip.

ernie is cool.  he has a wry and mischievous sense of humor.

i wasn't a big bird fan.  i don't know what it is about big bird but he never grabbed me.

there is a very nice woman at work who is over-cautious in her life.  for example, she would never, never, never have anything to do with soulcast, because it involves strangers, and that is too dangerous.  her favorite sesame street character is bert, who she identifies with.  i don't think that bert would come here either.

the only children's character that i really feel allergic to is that big purple dinosaur.  i don't like the writing on that show.  i'd say it makes my skin crawl, but i don't like cliches.

i forgot the count.  he's one of my favorites.  that's what the Edit button is for, to remember the count before your 60 seconds are up.
  • lfbno7 said on Jun 17, 2007....
uh oh, my 60 seconds are up and i thought of another thing.  the reason that they identify with "open sesame" opening up to a world of magic would be because the whole point of sesame street is to teach children to read and count and all that, to give them the beginnings of an education before they start school, and that is why their show opens up to a world of magic and opens doors for them.
  • silverwhisper said on Jun 18, 2007....
    evil_twin: oscar is teh shiz.

u-i: ah, miss piggy...no question, she was one of a kind!

botoni: mine never turned blue, either. maybe we just weren't eating enough?

notsosingle: seriously, that's how you named him? that's great!

cateemay: you hated sesame street? you communist traitor! :D re: "it's a simple questio"--it's what i use to identify a poll. :> it's just you that's simple-minded... (just kidding!)

MI: i was addicted, too. :D

CW: the count is just cool.

ms bradford: you know, for some reason that surprises me and i don't know why.

harried: yeah, it was how they incorporated numbers into what he did that i always found nifty.

kc: yeah, i guess there was no sesame street where you grew up, huh?

SF: snuff is just cool. heh...now i'm trying to imagine having ernie as a dad and it's kinda cool, actually... :D

lbf: i don't know how you were the first one to mention grover! and thank you for the explanation re: the name sesame street. :>
