Help for a dying friend

Friends and readers, I need help. I have a dear friend that is dying. There is no hope. She has about 2 weeks left the doctors feel, maybe less. She is a wonderful person and has been a humanitarian all her life. She was also active in animal protection for most of her adult life. She has a sister and brother that are doing all they can to help her during this time. It has taken most of their savings. She also has two teen daughters that I will be adopting.
We tried, several times, during the past two years to find life insurance for her. This is her third bout with cancer and we were unable to acquire insurance as those that offered it for her were so outrageously expensive. We have arranged the cheapest possible plans for her after her death but, I am still $1,500 short of the needed funds. The funeral home is working with us, but, I have these girls to think of and making payments while paying for the legal fees and transition of moving them to my home and all that comes with it will be more than I can handle.
Fund raising is something that I have never done in the past. Is there anyone that can offer me any ideas that will not require a large investment to raise these funds as quickly as possible?
