Well, I did it.

I plopped down in his chair, was spun around until I was positioned just so,
and after approving his creative process, the ink began to flow.

At each stage, I could feel the image progressing.
And with each rapid-fire pin-prick, I avoided stressing.

A beak, a tail, a feather, & perfect raven claws well-placed,
this bird of portend perched upon the world below my nape.

Intense and surreal,
this to me, is a big deal.

Now, the healing process begins,
and symbolism lies unmistakably therein

Although I'm satisfied, there is a tiny flaw,
that must be accepted; as it is the reality of inked law.

But happy, I am, to symbolize my soul,
in this unique way of forging new goals.

    Ed,

It is a raven perched atop a world globe (a simple longitude/latitude type globe w/o continents), about 1.5" tall and a tad over an inch wide, centered at the nape of my neck, and concealed by my long hair for professional reasons, but revealed when I wear it up or in a ponytail.

If you read my post, "April Fool On Me", you'll understand why Raven symbolizes who I am. As for the world globe, I adore travel, hence PassionTraveler.

I started out just to write a post about getting my first tattoo. But the first few lines rhymed unintentionally, and thought it would be cool to create a full on poem about the experience.

    Update:

Incidentally, Adam B. Forman, nicknamed Dutch Rubb, who did my tattoo is now working in the same shop with Kat Von D, of The Discovery Channel's show, LA Ink!

The shop employs many more artists than appear as regulars on the show, so he's not yet been on the show to my knowledge.
