I havent posted in a few days as I managed to escape all modcons this weekend. No electricity, no TV, no pc, no nothing...except friends, a view, good food and rather to much booze...the usual weekend away.
I posted recently about a place called ruiterbos outside Mossel Bay...well this weekend we went to a place called Paardekop Farm about 20kms towards the mountains from ruiterbos. It is in the Attaquaskloof in the Outeniqua Mountains. You get to a place that i can best describe as an artery...its channels weather along it caught between the mountains. It is incredibly lush with fynbos everywhere. There are also pine plantations which do spoil it a bit...but its really not such a tragedy....
The air is crisp and completely fresh. The nights are pitch black and a star display second to none (well maybe sutherland). We stayed with friends so you wouldnt be able to stay there. However 6ks down the road is bonniedale farm which has great accomodation and a few more mods than we had...you will find them here
This is another one of those places that is well off the beaten track and so is wonderfully "oh so 50 years ago" hospitality.I have gathered a gallery from the weekend here
