Serious question, should an entire family be deported if ones of it's members has been found participating in terrorist activities? Look at the Fort Dix Story as inspiration and the JFK Plotter's story. What if they or their children are American citizens'?

I think they should all go. The lot of them should be carried on a plane in the dead of night and dropped from a plane in their home country. We should keep what ever they made here using eminant domain as repayment for their plotting and scheming to kill us. It's called compensation. -

honestly, i don't get the appeal of penalizing an entire family for one person's actions. if we applied this to other kinds of criminal behavior would we jail a mugger's whole family?

I think it would be important to know if they knew what the family member was up to and how old they were. If they spouse knew and didn't say something, then they should all be deported as a family for two reasons. First, you don't want to break up the family, and second, if both parents knew then chances are good that they will teach their children to behave similarly. If the children are grown and can be independant, let them make the decision to stay or leave.
