The sons of Katie Elder has my absolute favorite John Wayne moment, where George Kennedy (bad guy) is dunking the blacksmith's head in a trough of water trying to get some information from him, John Wayne steps into the smithy, grabs a HUGE 2x4, yells "Hey!",... when George Kennedy looks up, SWAT goes the lumber across his head, down he goes. John Wayne to the rescue.
I think Flying Leathernecks is the only movie where John actually dies. Anybody know of any others?
CW....yep, he had. Like me!!! The Duke was the best....an Icon as you say.
I liked Clint Eastwood and Terrence Hill as well.
Doesn't he also die at the end of Wake of the Red Witch?
ed, you should watch some John Wayne movies. McLintock especially.
Unique and King..........do you really love him so much?....lol...
CW....Terence Hill is the English name of an Italian actor, Mario Girotti, born in Venice....
He is a prolific actor but here in Usa is known only for the Trinity series and film like 'My name is Nobody", "Ace High" "Blood river'......he has the most piercing blue eyes ever....lol...
My dad was a huge fan of John Wayne...so i watched a lot of his movies...never liked him though....sorry, guys....please, dont kill me....
I think he wasn't this great actor at all (basically he had two expressions: with closed eyes and with open eyes)....but he had a strong screen charisma..
I liked Clint Eastwood in the so called "western spaghetti" series from the other Italian director, Sergio Leone.......always great soundtracks in those movies..

Wake of the Red Witch has John Wayne as a corrupt 19th century ship's captain in the South Pacific who sinks a rival's treasure ship.
You might want to watch Reap the Wild Wind first - again, a 19th Century ship's captain whose ship is lost at the begining of the movie and he's blamed for the loss, speculation that he's in league with the salvagers.
