While ive been gone ive been thinking about all your cool and crazy names and i would love to know what made you choose your name..my name was a play on words..... "time flys"..... which is so true in my life especially when i wake up every day in the (afternoons) when most of the day has gone.... i know i should not be so lazyy , but if i explained fully why, you would all understand..
Anyway, i have tried looking for a similar post, to find out, but have not seen it, so please point me to its direction if its somewhere in Soulcast to save you all repeating yourself and so i can read why you did ..thanks:) Here's the link to the articles i wrote that was asked for.;) http://hubpages.com/_http/profile/compu-smart

Well, my name first name is Brenda, middle is Lee.  Everyone calls me Brennee (except for the hubby who calls me Bunny) and so there it is... BrenneeLee

A lot better than BunnyLee I think... too pornstar-ish and I'm far from that *smile*

  • JavaMama said on Jun 01, 2007....
Ah, I have answered this one once before and often find that I get asked this by everyone. I keep my name the same for every blog I own. Not because I fail to remember them all but because everyone has called me java mama for as long as I can remember outside of another nick name(missy commando).

When I was younger I started working at The Mocha House as a barrista. I also at the time worked at starbucks. I held both jobs all the way through college and kept up starbucks even after the baby was born. I am a coffee GURU! I am also a mother thus JAVAMAMA was born. My boss actually started it.

Now that I own the photostudio the name has still stuck....

  • Flagcar2000 said on Jun 01, 2007....
I chose  Flagcar2000  because it describes what I do for a living.  I drive a flagcar, sometimes called a pilot car, to escort oversize loads.  I travel about 75,000 miles per year and go all over the whole US.  Each state has its own set of laws governing oversize loads and their escorts.  Several states require that the escort/flagcar/pilot car driver be certified, and two states certify the car itself.  I am fully certified and insured to do my job in all of these states.  So the 2000 is to say I keep up with all the state laws into the 21st Century.

Anyway, I chose my name because when I joined SC I felt that I had a cold heart, but my heart is not so cold anymore! :-)

  • silverwhisper said on Jun 01, 2007....
ft: it's good to see you back again, man. :> i and some others explained this some time ago, but in my case, here's the story:

i’ve been asked a few times how i came up with mine, and i figure that it’s only fair that i answer my own question before asking that you do the same. i’ve given abbreviated versions of this story elsewhere but i’ve never had the occasion to sit down and think through how i came up with it. previous versions of this tale, therefore, are necessarily different and consequently, less than 100% accurate.

i’m a player of roleplaying games, or RPGs. about a decade ago, i played in one game in which my character possessed a unique plane. being a proud, boastful and not particularly intelligent sort, the character, who was modeled after porthos from the three musketeers, dubbed his plane the golden mirage, thereby simultaneously being distinctive as well as perhaps telling more about himself than he might like. several years after that game, i played in a RPG that was based upon star wars where my character was a smuggler. a somewhat cocky but cool customer, his ship was dubbed the silver mirage.

some of you have come to notice that i tend to prefer using lower case (sorry, alienated). i once spoke on the phone with someone from a discussion forum i frequent who observed to me that i also speak in lower case.

about two years ago, i joined another discussion forum and for various reasons, i wanted to obscure my identity. remembering the plane, starship and that observation, i hit upon what would become the name by which i am now known here as well.

I use this name on another site.  It comes from Marion Zimmer Bradley's Avalon books.
  • evil_twin said on Jun 01, 2007....
I picked this name because it's something people have called me since I was a kid. I explained it once in one of my first blogs, but basically, my brother and I used to look a lot alike when we were little. And we were very close in age, so some people mistook us for twins. And I was the little troublemaker, so I was coined the 'evil twin' in a joking manner. I just thought it was funny so I sort of kept the title for my online persona. I use it a lot.

ADHDdad simply a Dad of 2 children with ADHD I also have ADHD and I work with children  who have ADHD. I also am realy begining to belive that Attention Deficite Hyperactivity Disorder is not a disorder after all. Firstly most ADD ADHD people can concerntraste very well if they are interested in fact we can become fixated. Also most people bring severaql bits of information together to form one thought. We take one bit of info and explode it into thousands of thoughts. We dart back and forth between the info. bits and allways come back to each thought we visit. I think it is actualy a quantum leap n mans evolution toward a higher level of high speed thinking. Of course you usualy have to be ADHD in order to keep up.

Like Susemaryjosmep my name has a Philippine origin. My ex filipino partner was angry wiht me one day and used Botonibill to describe me. In the Illicano language it would be boto ni Bill (my first name is Bill). A rough translation would be Bill, the prick. I took a liking to it for some strange reason so I ve retained it.

flytimes, Re the pros and cons of all states having the same laws governing oversize load movement.  Won't happen unless the feds decide to oversee the profession as they did with CDLs in the early 90s.  States are very possessive of their authority over certain things.  The pro is obvious.  We'd only have one set of rules to follow and all states would require the same equipment.
  • skald said on Jun 01, 2007....

I have enjoyed so much reading about the names everyone has given them selves . I fist chose the name kona which means a woman. It is the name of my Icelandic blog. well I wanted to write about things that I am not saying in my little society of Iceland and I got a new bog here and had the name skald.. Skald means a writer or a poet which I am not but is still in my family. I am ashamed that I chose such a highbrow name but I wanted a short word. That is how it is.

I'm sure you've heard the movie villian cliche about "can't make an omlet without breaking a few eggs"? It's actually said in real life too.

Of course, if you had to break a few eggs, there are some you wouldn't mind losing, right? You know the ones I'm talking about, don't you? The ones who don't quite fit in. The problem cases. The freaks. The ones who make you uncomfortable to look at. Who would miss them, right?

And the little pat on my head for my part, "It's all for the best. You do understand, don't you?" So very pragmatic.

That's who I am. The Expendable.

  • Expendable said on Jun 03, 2007....

  • Expendable said on Jun 04, 2007....

Don't be silly. When someone takes over, there's always someone else who's upset and tries to take revenge. (They'll say they're doing it for freedom but we both know better.) Not to mention all the problems you inherit and are now responsible for fixing. So I'm going to need a figurehead for everyone else to go after while I stay the power behind the throne. It should be an exciting if brief life.

Don't worry about the assassins. If one does get you, he's the next figurehead. And you know what'll happen to him.

I picked it because it is my aol screen name and i figured if anyone wanted to contact me there they could.

LFB stands for my initials LF followed by the B for baseball, because I created a game called LF Baseball which I sold for a few years.

No 7 is what Mickey Mantle wrote to me on his LFB card when I gave it to him to autograph it.  Mickey is my favorite player.  Mickey's uniform number was 7.

I know how popular baseball is in the USA and it always seems to be on in the early hours of the morning here which I always watch it. have you considered ever selling it? it seems a pretty stupid question after what you've said. I'm expecting a no answer but i thought id ask anyway and its value too, apologies for being nosey lol
  • lfbno7 said on Jun 11, 2007....
You googled Mickey Mantle?  He was the hero to a generation of boys who grew up in or near New York City.  I guess you could compare it to a star football player, the best on the local team, one that leads the team to several world championships.  I wouldn't bother to sell his autograph because it wouldn't bring all that much money, not enough to justify the bother.  If it would bring me thousands of dollars that would be different.  In that case, I'd sell two of them and just keep the one that means the most to me.
