There is a Creation Museum opening on Monday in--where else--Kentucky.  At this museum you can learn interesting "facts" such as how dinosaurs and people co-existed, how the Grand Canyon took just days to form after the "great flood" and how Cain married his sister to populate the earth.

In this link from BoingBoing about the museum they cite a Gallup poll that finds "almost half of Americans believe that humans did not evolve but were created by God in their present form within the last 10,000 years."

    We are entirely fucked.

how in the hell did creationists find the necessary comprehension of science to think a museum is worthwhile? :D

    Ha, silver!

The thing is, I'm not sure things are getting worse of if the creationists are just getting more vocal.  Do you think the turn towards creationism is just people finally voicing that and that it's always been there, or are we in a true slide?  Are the creationists bent on dragging us--kicking and screaming--into the 16th century?

Judging from the current tags, I’d say Lucky was talking about your Pulitzer prize.

I went to a planetarium over the weekend. The show was great; they talked about the Big Bang and the immense scale of the universe. I was a bit disappointed though. They left out the part about God creating it all with the light in transit a mere 6,000 years ago. ;)

    Kelly,
I am not amused at the implication that people in Kentucky are Neo-Luddite Bible thumpers.  Well maybe we are a bunch of Neo-Luddite Bible thumpers but we have great Fried Chicken.

Hell's bells, HBC, my family tree hails from Kentucky, but for me blood is thinner than water.  :-)

Antimatter, I loved the thought about creating light in transit!  I get your point but the thought of it is kind of fascinating.

Silver, making me laugh as usual....  :-)

I'm going to have to delete that Pulitzer Prize thingy.  Maybe I'll just make a Booker award.

"Cain married his sister to populate the earth"?

So does that mean, like, we're all inbred, or something?

Eew...  Promoting incest.  That's just nasty.

Then again, this IS Kentucky we're talking about...

Also, they'd better not be getting government grants for this nuttiness, or I'm going to be super-pissed...
  • BlueHotRage said on May 31, 2007....
Just joking about the Kentucky thing, BTW.  Just so you know.
  • kelly said on Jun 01, 2007....
Yeah, Blue, I always wondered about the genetic bottleneck that would imply as well.

It's a religious museum, so it targets religious people.  I have friends and relatives in Kentucky, and ya, yer right, we are all mindless Bible thumpers who yell "Blasphemer child!" when our kid says damn.  I plan on visiting this museum when I go down to Kentucky in less than a month.  I'll let you know if it's as bad as you think.

  • hunter_boyce_chandler said on Jun 03, 2007....
Dont forget to get Fried Chicken.

Maybe we can get Dr. Phil to stand in for Clarence Darrow, and redo the Scopes Monkey Trial.
  • robtard94 said on Jul 05, 2007....
hmm, did humans make this museum or did God poof it into existence?
  • StupidGenius said on Jul 12, 2007....
By definition it cant be called a museum. It will not contain any fact and im sure it wont explain how christianity was derived from the idols and deities of tribal sects. Created for the delusional by the delusional. My blog on the creation and survival of religion has now been posted. Im posting this comment using my nokia n95 so cant add a link. SG

SG:  I have a style?  Well, whaddya know.  :-)  Thanks!

B4MV: No to the first part.  And your other two assumptions are wrong.

I am consistantly amazed at the lengths religious people will go to to prove that the blind faith they have betowed on some unknown un-factual superhuman fairie in the sky is true. I do find it funny as well though so please continue thou who art delusional. lol

    Yup you have style

Don't agree? DON'T GO! Dang it people ... it's NOT a hard concept to grasp. Really. I promise. If you don't agree with a certain establishments polices or whatever .... don't frequent that establishment. Here's a little tidbit of information that you rabid atheists might find "interesting". Chic-Fil-A is a CHRISTIAN COMPANY. Hey - betcha didn't know that. What - you not gonna go now that they believe in the "magical sky fairy" that you claim isn't real?

Why DO you claim He isn't real, anyway? Is it because he doesn't grant your every wish? Is it because He doesn't conform to YOUR standards of what a God should be? Is it because you don't want to admit that you're not the biggest boy on the playground? You people are a damn joke.
