I'm not a fan of Bush, not by a long shot.  I am a supporter of the Iraq war, though I'm slowly losing faith in it for reasons of my own.  The thing is that I quite often hear people claiming that George Bush is a terrorist.  I've always thought that to be a vicious lie of the left.   A terrorist is someone who uses violence, or the threat of violence to control a government.  Well honestly George Bush did just that.  He used violence to effect change in a government.  Don't be too quick to agree with me here.

The second amendment gives us all the right to bear arms.  It means quite literally that there is an implied threat from EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN to keep certain policies. Which I might add some of you feel are being threatened as I type.  How many posts does bloc have about the suspension of Habeas Corpus?  I'll be damned if I'm a terrorist because I have declared (along with many others) that if the government wants my gun(s) they can come pry them from my cold dead fingers.

So what is that magic line that makes a terrorist.  Is Bush a terrorist?  Are you? Was Robin Hood (assuming he existed?)

um...i wouldn't describe bush as a terrorist. i'd describe him as a president in the process of becoming an autocrat.

people who are willing to give up their civil liberties--for any reason--completely confuse me. i don't see that price as being one anyone should ever want to pay.

Neither would I, just like I don't consider myself a terrorist despite fitting the defintition.  Or for that matter I don't think that you bloc, and copsunited (he seems to be a little upset over you recently) constitute a gang despite again meeting the requirements.

I was thinking of a post very similar to this on my drive to work today. A judge ruled that some environmental activists can be tried as terrorists or something like that. I heard it on the radio so my memory may be fuzzy.

They are certainly criminals, but are they terrorists?

sean: naturally we don't. although if we were, i'd be curious to know what our colors would be.

well, this is what happens when you expose someone as a liar, hypocrite and coward. although i have to say, green really isn't his color.

Oh well, I guess its good that you're a better man than me.  I'm quite capable of being petty and often I don't know what to do with ten posts a day. . .

Hi everyone; This might sound condesending but all these comments remind me of a elementry school at lunch time. If you walk around the yard, you'll see kids doing all kinds of different things; the little boy reading a book-by himself, another group getting together to play some kind of game, while still another group sitting around talking about everyone else thats not in their group. Why; because the other kids aren't as smart, cool, as well dressed, not as good looking or they just don't think like they do. When someone puts another person down because they think their answers are correct & the other person-because they don't express their ideas as succinctly or clearly as they perceive themselves as doing. I'll leave it at that for now, if for no other reason then to give me a chance to better explain myself at a later time. USE common sense first, The word terror means Intense fear, Terrorist is the one causing the intense fear for a specific goal. I'll leave it at that for now. I hope everyone has a great long weekend, stay safe & I'll back to the computor after the weekend. BST

BST, are you reading the other comments? your comment only seems to make sense if that's the case.

Here is a fascinating post relating to this. Excerpt:

"Leave aside the question of whose political causes are just and whose are unjust, because it is irrelevant to the discrete issue at hand. It is simply a fact that Americans generally -- at least as much as any other country in the world -- believe in the justifiability of violent attacks on civilians in pursuit of political goals. That is how people like John Podhoretz can come right out and say things like this in The New York Post and have virtually none of his mainstream political comrades bat an eye:"

What if the tactical mistake we made in Iraq was that we didn't kill enough Sunnis in the early going to intimidate them and make them so afraid of us they would go along with anything? Wasn't the survival of Sunni men between the ages of 15 and 35 the reason there was an insurgency and the basic cause of the sectarian violence now?

    that's pretty damned scary.

To me this is a perfect example of what religions do to peoples minds.  Power is so admired and appears to be such a great thing when it is used to kill ones "enemies" or now the so called"terroists".  When people insist on following a leader that uses his power to steal,  punish and kill others and the people call it a "good" thing is it any wonder that the people think it is equally wonderful to use their power the same way?  Those who follow the gods of war create the same wars over and over again. Blood has been spilled all over the planet at one time or the other by these continious wars.  How many wrongs are righted by this continual blood bath?  How many solutions are found or problems solved?  If this same power was used to create a world of love and peace that works for everyone, everywhere how much better off would we all be?

SW, your exactly right, I  just had read the comments under Bloc's post & I thought I'd throw some crap aganist the wall & see what stuck!
SS, I think the way you see religion, is like most people see the military. If the person thinks the military is doing the right thing, then they join to help fight  for what is right! Do you think that religious people are mindless robots? The leaders of their religion say we must destroy all the non-believers or they will take over your souls. I agree there has been many wars started over something to do with religion but many wars were started for many other reasons. My question to you; Do you think this country would have stayed out of the wars we were in, if we  all were Ateist?  BST

Athiests is a word,  to me, hung on all people that do not believe in someones elses religious god.  YES I do believe that without religion there would never have been, or ever be wars.  It is not the wars. It is the mindset,  the perception of good-bad, right-wrong that religions bring to the table that is the problem.  That does not allow for the opportunity to be created to solve problems because everyone is just looking for some one to blame for them.  There is no problem that cannot be solved if peole could step out of their religious programming and take an honest open minded look at it and do what was necessary to end it.
  • bewaresmoothtalkers said on May 29, 2007....
First SS, Athiest according to themselves is they do not believe in any god. I think you are wrong about all wars. You can find any number of wars that were fought for
  • bewaresmoothtalkers said on May 29, 2007....
Sorry SS it seems my comment got cut off. What I was saying was you can find many wars not fought over religion such as The Roman empire wars, Alexander the greats many battles & even the Second World War. Think of yourself as a leader of people, another leader comes to you & tells you he needs your peoples land for his empire. You can give it to him or he will take it by force. What will you do? give him your peoples land & make slaves out of them or will you ask your people to fight to keep what is theirs, the only problem is many of them will die if they fight & they still might in up being slaves. What is your course of action. People should live their lives as they see fit but if they don't like the way other people are doing it then they should run for public office. BST

One can study the history of the Indians for more of one of the examples that I speak of.  They killed the intruders into their lands but they did not go out and descimate all other Indians.  History shows many ways to settle problems without wars as we have created and seen.  One can envision a people who are just like the Jesus that I know and speak of that can manifest their needs out of their hand(consciousness).  If one is the genie no one needs to take from another or kill another.  In the Old Testament there is a few verses about  a people that lived together in peace without and leaders,  kings or government.  They were evoled enough to realize that laws do not work.. Consciousness does.  I know that this is the gift of freedom that Jesus teaches for if you teach a man to fish instead of just giving him the fish he will never go hungry.  But religions do not teach the "you can do greater things than I do"  message of Jesus.  There message is let someone else "save" you but that is not the teaching that frees the people.
  • bewaresmoothtalkers said on May 29, 2007....
SS, you sound like a sincere person, I applaude your thinking but to think the American Indians are any different then any other race I would have to disagree with you. In fact there were passive tribes & warrior tribes. Many tribes would raid other tribes & take slaves, other tribes would accept outsiders into their tribe. The outside civilized world came into the indians world & started making changes, some good, some bad. The outside world brought diseases that wiped out entire tribes. Much of this was done by unsuspecting missionaries that brought the word of god to the indians. Where they wrong to try to teach the word of god to the indians of course not. I think I will continue this train of thought on my own blog. BST
