My daughter is a picky and slllooowwwww eater. Even with a favorite food, it would take her at least an hour or so to finish a meal. I tried all sorts of means to coax her into eating her food faster but to no avail. It's so frustrating! I know sometimes I'm hard on her, but I'm at a loss as to what to do to keep on motivating her.

Fried Chicken, Noodles, Dimsum, all her favorite food. Nothing seems to work.  Well, this has just been an extremely frustrating day....

my son is a very very picky eater and always has been.  he's 11 now, and i can count on one hand the foods he likes to eat.  he'll eat chicken, but it has to be a certain kind of chicken...lol...pizza, peanut butter and jelly, noodles...waffles and pancakes.

when he was 3 and 4 and 5 i kept asking the pediatricain what to do.  meals seemed endless and i was so worried he wasn't getting what he needed.

every year the doctor would tell me he was 'fine'...that he would eat when he was hungry, and it was better not to make an issue out of every meal because then meals are associated as negative times, and i would end up making matters worse.

they suggested i let him 'graze'.  when he was hungry, feed him.  instead of 3 meals, let him have  6 smaller ones.  I've pretty much been forced to go along because it's the only way to keep my sanity.

i know this is really hard.  but maybe it's time for you to do this same route?  my son's appetite hasnt gotten much better, but i have to say, that when he is hungry he does eat.  one more thing, i used multi vitamins every day too.  hopefully, what he doesn't get from eating, he gets from those.

    good luck!

My oldest daughter is nine and she's very picky as well.  She's not even remotely open to trying new foods.  Like SL's son, she eats when she's hungry.

My three youngest daughters will eat almost anything, particularly if it's on my plate!

It helps my 10 year old if I put a time limit on eating, if she does not finish she gets no dessert.

I was like that when I was young...there's nothing wrong if they eat slow...if they ate faster than they would eat more because they would not even have the time to taste the food, which would consequently lead to a gain of weight with the years. just let her eat at her own pase...
