Do you belong to any online professional groups?

I belong to a couple of professional writing groups through Yahoo Groups.  I actually had quite a long stint as co-moderator at one of them.  It was in conjunction with a website that has made it into Writer’s Digest Magazine as one of the top 100 websites for writers for several years running.  I like to think I have had a little helping hand in that. 

I’ve even gotten some freelance work on occasion from networking there.

Since I’ve been blogging and working on getting my life in order, I haven’t spent as much time with my groups. I’ve been looking for a steadier income than freelance writing affords me at the moment. I prefer the interaction blogging gives me on a more personal level.  I guess it’s what I need at this moment and time. 

I’m all business in my groups.  I don’t share anything deeply personal because I’m known by my real name.  It’s a whole different ball game.

    as a rule, no. there are various online haunts through which i have obtained work-related information, but that's exceedingly unusual for me.

    There are a lot members in my groups, hundreds and in some cases thousands.  I was just wondering if anyone else found them useful.

    There are Yahoo Groups for many different interests, professional or otherwise.  You can go here to check them out.
