Haha...Just looking in on your morning rituals....Do you squeeze the tube systematically from the back or from the front of the tube?

Do you brush the front set of teeth first or the the left/right sides first?

Do you ever brush up/down and/or the backs of the teeth?

Do you floss and/or use a mouth wash?

Just curious.....

IN SHORT, WHAT'S YOUR BATHROOM ROUTINE IN THE MORNING/NIGHT?

LMAO Funny idea!  Ummmm I squeeze the tube from the middle until it starts getting close to empty the from the bottom up.  I brush the right side first, then left, then front - side to side and up and down on all teeth, and I use mouthwash.  I prefer Scope mint.  It will be interesting to see the difference in routines!

Never really thought about it but I squeeze the tube from the bottom up and when I brush I make sure that I brush the gums and the tongue also.  Lately I've been brushing also on the inside of the gums also.
I sometimes gargle and use Listerine specially when I feel I'm coming down with a cold or sore throat.

This drives me crazy, because I squeeze the tube very precisely from the bottom and then my wife screws it all up by sqeezing any old way. It's become an ongoing joke because this irritates me.

Then she got me this tube roller gadget - you pass the tube through these hand-pressed interlocking gears and twist this crank handle - so now I periodically re-squeeze the tube from the bottom. We get the best of both worlds, now!

As for routine - floss, brush vertically front, back, inside, outside (but now I'll start doing tounge and cheeks - thanks cookie!), then mouthwash on occasion.

I've read that you're supposed to brush for three minutes in order to expose the bacteria to levels of oxygen sufficient to kill them. Is that true?

Bronx:  I squeeze the tube in the middle while brushing, but adjust it afterward.  I floss 'religiously' in the morning and at night.  I brush the bottom teeth first.  Then, I take out my top teeth and 'go to town' on them! Hahahaha!

    sweet: wow...even the cheeks, too?

Hmmm....that's quite a dental regimen for sparkling white teeth to get closer to, for the lucky guy, of course! Haha.

SW: Sounds great....no mouthwash for me too, except after a meal or something....

Rolling: brushing the tongue is very important but one has to be very careful about brushing the gums, to avoid some really painful bruising - if a hard bristle is used.

You know, the idea for this post came from observing my 7-year old son - he squeezes the tube of paste from the middle, while I start squeezing it from the back of the tube.

I began to conclude that, perhaps,  squeezing from the back is what adults do -  because of  greater strength - or it may just be a question of style or preference!

BTW, that's an interesting sore throat and cold remedy!

curmudgeon: there's nothing quite like a great compromise to solve a touchy issue, is there? That was very neatly done by you two!

As for the three minutes for brushing to kill bacteria - well...I just drown the suckers in paste by not spitting out any paste till I'm done brushing - then, I reload the brush for a second run at them, the ones still left groggy from the first pass, that is.

Yep, I guess that would be more or less three minutes of brushing. Haha.

blast: that's hilarious...hahahaha - showing them who was the real boss, aren't you?

That's quite a unique trick - I had a friend in college who shocked me only once.

At the lunch / dinner table, he would take out his entire dentures (up and down) and keep them aside in a case on his person before he ate or drank anything - the first time I saw it, I think I must have muttered something like 'now, I've seen everything' under my breath!

He lost his teeth in an accident. Can I ask how you lost your upper set?
