Thuddy is a heavier sensation of object impacting skin. A heavy flogger, heavy slapper or paddle (or just about anything heavier) can be used to cause this deeper sensation.
Personally, I prefer sting. I mark so easily, and light things with a deadly sting can take me a lot further with a lot less marking. I really like the crop, light leather falls on a flogger, the stinging slap of a hand.... I love anything that stings. Could you share a bit of information about various materials and how they might feel on skin with an intent for medium to maximum pain from them. I know with an intent not to cause pain that the feel can be quite sensuous..it's not this intent that I'm interested in. Thanks in advance. -

I guess I was surprised that it starts out light and slowly builds in intensity. It makes sense that that's generally the case. I just had never considered it before. Yes...yee who doesn't want pain...even floggers can be pleasurable if handled properly. I was at a demonstration last fall of floggers of various types of leathers. Trust me the people getting flogged were being pleasured.
As for light and slowly builds in intensity...I think it's like a lot of D/s...it comes in all sorts of variations.
Personally I prefer my spankings interspersed with some soothing rubs. Of course I don't always get my preference...sometimes I have to wait until the after care.

sweetsoul... I'll have to do some "research" on this one... I don't have that much experience with floggers yet... smiles. I do know that thin leather lace falls and braided leather falls cause a nice sharp hot sting... and I think generally, the heavier and thicker the falls are, the thuddier they are... it seems logical... but I could be wrong. I will look into it and see what I can find out, though. Questions are always welcome.

I, too, am fond of sensation play and have experimented some with both pain and temperature. Recently I came across websites by makers of very interesting floggers. One is by a maker of satin ribbon floggers that are beautiful and yet have a deceptively high capacity for causing sting and burn. The other maker focuses on leather and makes a range of toys using different leathers. Given the exorbitant prices that some of the bdsm "stores" online charge, I'd much rather deal directly with an individual craftsman (or woman, as in the case of the satin floggers).
MWw, your final image of the ice cube is one that I thoroughly enjoy. I've also played with smooth steel objects recently removed from the freezer. Oh, it's a delicious thing to take one's subs out to the extremes and then gently bring her back down again in your arms.
