Through week 5 of the 2010 season, four teams remain undefeated, two in each conference. In the AFC, those teams are North division rivals Cleveland (5-0) and Baltimore (4-0). These two meet for the first time this season in week 6. In the NFC, the teams are the Bandits (5-0) and the Giants (5-0). These two teams play in Week 15. Two teams are winless on the season: St. Louis (0-5) and Atlanta (0-4).
As expected, the Bandits and Browns are both dominating. Each lead their conference in most points scored and fewest allowed, with the Browns leading the NFL in points for (156) and the Bandits in points against (55).
The Browns have cruised against a couple quality teams, holding both Tampa Bay and Tennessee under 10 points. They had a couple easy wins against Cincinnati and the Jets, but had a close call week 3 against the Steelers, winning 34-27. That week the Browns lost their second MLB Brain Davis for 8 weeks with a torn shoulder. Cap problems forced the Browns to put Davis on the IR in order to sign a replacement. They brought in 3rd round draft pick Martin Jones from the practice squad. Urlacher is currently listed as questionable, and is expected to return in the next few weeks. Backup HB Austin Barrie has done well in place of the injured Reggie Bush, who went down week 2 and is out for at least one more week. Barrie has 450 yards and 5 TDs in three starts.
The Bandits have put away some quality teams, beating Carolina, Detroit, and Seattle twice. The Lions kept it close, the Bandits only winning 20-16. Their easiest game was a 36-3 tromping of Kansas City. Injuries have been light, with the only significant one being to RG Joey Harrison, which has given Ralph Francis the chance to prove he's the man the Bandits should bring back next year. Vince Young seems to not be improving at all, still throwing as many picks as he does TDs. He continues to run well, but word is circulating that Bill Belichick is growing tired of Young's turnovers and his tendency to run too much and may replace him with pocket passer Charles Young if Vince doesn't cut down on the INTs and try to throw the ball down field more often. The switch to the 3-4 seems to be paying dividends. Newly added MLB Nick Barnett already has a career-high 7 sacks, leading the team.
