I often keep hearing people say... "thats a womans job", but im wondering...... Is there anything that only women can do that a man cant!?, apart from the obvious which is giving birth and breast feeding!! and is there anything that only a man can do that a woman cant? usually when men say that, it means it's a job they don't want to do or one traditionally that a woman does......housework.  my husband is actually better at cleaning than i am, yet he thinks this is my job...
  • sweet_cookie01 said on May 09, 2007....
secretlife explained it better than i could... it just means its a job that they dont want to do because they are not expected to do it... or its a way of saying "you do it not me"
  • silverwhisper said on May 09, 2007....
you know, i verbally smack people who use that expression or the expression "woman's work".

    GUILTY.

Mowing the lawn, cleaning the pool, and taking out the trash are a man's job.  I want no part of it.  Not that I can't, but I won't (unless he's out of town).

Thus, I can't complain when I'm expected to do the laundry, ironing, and shower cleaning.

If I'm sick...the laundry piles up.  If he's sick, our lawn turnes to jumanji (I take out the trash though).

Sorry, but I'm with BombShell.  I semi-jokingly call taking out the trash my husband's "manly duty," and I've never used a lawn mower in my life.

However, I also think traditional "woman's work" is beneath me.  I do it, but I hate almost every minute of it.  I really wish we could afford a housekeeper.

Flytimes, I think the only answer is mothering and fathering.

This is an argument I have on a regular basis with the BF.  I have no idea where he get this stuff!  The last time this came up we were arguing because I took out the trash and didn't wait for him to do it.  I have no problem doing the chores interchangeably.  He made the statement that he should do it (trash duty) because he's bigger and stronger (no argument there) to which I replied "but I'm smarter".  I said it with the sweetest smile, which is a "woman's trick".
  • BombShell said on May 09, 2007....
Seriously, if my man were to volunteer for extra chores.....

holy cow! Don't let me stand in his way!!

I am just wondering if a man and a woman should live together at all!!!
  • BombShell said on May 10, 2007....
I'm very sure men and women should live together.  Otherwise only half the stuff that should get done actually would.

In england southern the role of man and womans jobs have evolved into a lot of men staying at home being the house wife while the mother is the bread winner and goes to work everyday which has become very exceptable here..im pracrtically a house wife lol, i cook, im fibbing,i heat food up;) i clean, i do the shopping and ironing and cleaning.. and in a recent scientific test it proved that if you were a man with low testosterone and you started doing manly things you would produce more testosterone and if you were a guy with a high amount and you started to do feminine things it reduces it..... im off to cry noww lol fly
  • southerngirl said on May 25, 2007....
So, flytime, what would be an acceptable statement for "that's a women job". would it be whatever fix the situations at the time of the usuage.
  • flytimes said on May 25, 2007....
Personally southern there was a time when there "were" womans jobs and man jobs but in this day and age its quite acceptable for jobs to be done by both sexes.. I cant think of any job that should only be assigned to woman." except for...... nudge nudge, wink wink;) hehe fly
  • southerngirl said on May 25, 2007....
Mmmmmm, well, thats a woman job mean  any job a man can do a woman can do also.
  • flytimes said on May 26, 2007....
heres something someone just sent me.. (1) The woman buys the food. (2) The woman makes ! the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert. (3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand. Here comes the important part: (4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL. More routine.... (5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery. (6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation. Important again: (7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN. More routine.... (8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces and brings them to the table. (9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes. And most important of all: (10) Everyone PRAISES and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts. (11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off" and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women....

Flytimes, flytimes, flytimes, in the case that you present early, that is a lot of work isn't, "thats a woman jobs" is whateven the job call for, dam are you sure.
  • flytimes said on May 28, 2007....
Southerngirl, Southerngirl, Southerngirl,....... lol...To clarify , i dont beleive that there is any job title or thing that can be described as a "womans job", its just what i hear peple say but i completely disagree, but then again there are jobs suited for woman more than men from evolution, thats why the majority of men dont like cooking cleaning washing dishes etc and would rather hammer a few nails in the wall... its just natuaral and the evolvement of life is changing, These days i would not be surprised if a midwife was man or an auir pair a woman....
