Who's reading 2foldONE (7):

"To us the preaching of the Gospel is a New Beginning, from which we date all things; beyond which we neither desire, nor are able, to inquire."

When was the Bible created?  (And please don’t say when “God created the heavens and the earth”) When was its first book written?  When and please tell me when was the date of the revision (among a countless number of them) of your current version of the Bible?

All these elements play an important factor in the over all picture of things.

The truth is that your “truth” uttered by the “Mouth of the Living God” and written by the “Inspiration of the Holy Sprit” was ultimately handled by man in its execution of it being placed in the hands of people all across the world.

       Can we agree on this?

Reasons and purposes can vary from person but this is fact.

Those same men responsible for its placement in your hands were also fighting against other faiths (namely, Gnosticism) during the construction of your current faith which is still receiving maintenance and face lifts this very moment.  Those contentions are a direct result for the demeanor of Christianity today.

Irenaeus was born in the earlier part of the 2nd century A. D. and stands as one of the most influential pillars of organized Christianity.  He wrote a series of books (among his other writings) called, “On the Detection and Overthrow of the So-Called Gnosis”.  In Latin it is Adversus Haereses and is so comprehensive in its attempt to detail Gnosticism, if it wasn’t for the Library of Nag Hammadi being recovered his book would have been the only surviving description of the old faith!

You know why?  Because he and others systematically pushed all other opposing creeds and religions in Rome out of view.

       Men did this, not God.

Irenaeus was also the first Christian writer to approve not only the order of the Four New Testament gospels but their authenticity. But even today, if you know your facts, then you know they were anonymously written.  How was it that he didn’t know this when the books surfaced only a couple centuries prior (if that) in his time?!?

Then there’s Eusebius of Caesarea.  He is responsible for many things in regards to the structure of modern Christianity but especially of the New Testament and the exclusion of other cannons.  He played an important role in the meeting in 325 A. D. which shape the Christian world as we know it into the faith that it is today.

It is the theology (read the section “Irenaeus’ Theology” via his hyperlink) of the two, especially Irenaeus that should be thought over.  His entire theology was derived from his teachings from Polycarp but was an off shoot of Gnosticism.  How can I say this?  Read just a few pages of Adversus Haereses and then look at his theology outlined by Wikipedia.  If you know his theology, he was merely using pre-existing elements and coming to conclusions based upon them.  Nothing was of his own self discovery or research!  This is very important to note.

The most important aspect of Gnosticism was the fact that the “Logos” could not be made flesh but that it was the spoken Word of the Divine, Unseen Creator.  Modern day Christians have a tendency to “sin” and ask for forgiveness whereas the former strived for a more advance perfection.  You see, that Divine Word was considered to be in us making us be the “firstborn of many brethren”. All of that said to say this: Christians today are like children riding a bicycle, constantly asking for forgiveness/pardon when they fall off the bike but never developing the necessary propensity to stop falling off the bike. Church going constantly reminds you that you have no balance.  Your “brothers” and “sisters” admonish you in the fact that you are incapable of holding the handle bars straight by yourself.  You are constantly told of a need to have the reassuring guidance of God and Jesus’ hand on the back seat to direct you.  But you never learn how to ride the bike in and of yourself.

Is it possible?  Of course it is! Wo/Man can do just about anything; the only source that animates us is our Creator.  To do anything would mean that you did it by your "Father".  But God forbid if one walks into a church and says “I can (ride the bike) because I am a direct offspring of my Father and I can do all things”

Why, if I didn’t know any better, I would say that person would have an outcome no different than your Jesus.  He would have to leave before someone grabbed hold of him to try and throw him off a cliff.

That is what Jesus came to teach,  how to ride the bike. He was perhaps the first Freedom From Religion Fighter that ever came to teach us.  He said that greater things could we do than he did.  But you will never heard a sermon about that piece of news.  The thing that I would like to contribute to your post is the example set by Fathers. Religious people who have an icon for their Father or God of their religions have set an example of following these old god's ways.  If one believes that they are going to be punished by their "loving Father they will follow his example and punish likewise.  it is that example that perpetuates problems between fathers and their children.  Who can be honest with a Father that holds all of the power? If Fathers want their children to grow up to be loving, kind and considerate people they must treat them that way.  Respect for parents works both ways.  If they child is not respected and it's rights honored how will it learn to honor anyone?

My good friend shinningstar, I found and interesting piece of information while surfing other blogs just before I entered the Soulcast Zone today.  One that I had crossed once, very briefly during my knowledge cram phase (which has only slowed down recently but as of late, has started again with full fervor) and only looked at with the slightest of interest.  It’s also interesting what happens to you once you realize that ALL knowledge has its place in the world.  Your scope broadens.

A blogger named BLACKECOLOGY had this to say: (all rights reserved)

The terms Chrestos and Christos came from the Mysteries. There the word Chrestos was used to designate a disciple on probation, a neophyte, one who was preparing himself for initiation into the Mysteries. When the candidate had passed through the Chrestos condition, or the probationary period, and had finally reached the state of an Initiate, he was anointed and became a Christos.

This was observed by none other than Justin Martyr, a person who was very important but remains obscure in the Christian histories mainly because of his stance.  Gerald Massey say’s much of him but has yet to allude to such a claim or at least as far as I know.  But Massey does say that Justin considered his present day Jews to be “blasphemous” and names another man as the Christ.  A man whom the Jews ex-communicated and later crucified.  But you have to read around to know both perspectives.  BLACKECOLOGY finishes as says:

“The word Christos also meant the "Way" or the "Path." When the Chrestos addressed his Master, he said: "Thou art the Path." After the disciple had been initiated himself, the same words were repeated to him by his Teacher. "I am the Way", said Jesus, after he had become a Christos. "Thou canst not travel on the Path until thou hast become that Path itself," says the Voice of the Silence. And H. P. Blavatsky reiterated the same idea when she said to her pupils: "Do not follow me; follow the Path I show," meaning by that: "Do not follow my personality; follow the Christos-principle within yourselves, the only 'Light on the Path' that really exists."

Christos, or Christ, is therefore not a special title belonging to any one individual, but is a state or condition, the last stage in the long series of progressive awakenings of the soul. The Christos, or Christ-principle, lies latent within every man.

And it is this principle that I perpetually stress.  This will cause you to be Jesus.

I almost was unsure of how of where to begin in response to this post; let me start here, however, I can agree with you on one point and one point only: the Living Word of God is handled by man.   That was the plan since the beginning and will be the case until Jesus himself will instruct man upon he re-appearance.

But I can say this assuredly, you have totally walked from the faith and not only that; have taken it upon yourself to attack it.  Why?  What traumatic and tragic event happened to you in order to make you such a reprobate?  What has transpired in your life beside a good (too much if you ask me) dose of reading into matters which have nothing to do with salvation.

There was only one savior, one crucifixion and resurrection; besides all the other stuff, I don’t really care.  If God would have intended for us to know anything different then he would have provided an alternative. But now has the perfect plan of salvation appeared but you only chose to poke holes in it with your New Age reasoning.  You should really try some deep soul searching and come to grips with the fact that Jesus came to deliver you from your sins.  Stop trying to intellectualize and fight the plan and you will see that it was meant for you as well.

2foldONE that is a most wonderful post.  The Christos path is well known for what it is and what it means to enlightened people.  Jesus set an example for all people to follow but his teaching was perverted by those who wanted power over others.  His truth is taught today no longer in hidden places but is seen all over the planet as people turned off by religions seek a way to peace.  One day I hope he will come back and be proud of those who sought to understand and follow the teachings instead of worshipping the teacher.  He would be murdered today if he came back because the relious Jesus followers would call him a Satan or a devil just as they did before and kill him.  Is salute you for your great understanding of a way of life that many of us persue and walk in.
