If you are downloading games from the internet onto your PC before you put them on to your PSP rather than directly on to your PSP you need to check that they are in the right format. If they are not then actually downloading them from your PC on to the PSP will be much more difficult to do. So first off you need to check what operating system (firmware) is installed on your PSP and then you need to find games to download which are compatible with it.
Secondly you need to make sure that the file you have chosen to download ends in “PSP”. Often you will find that most games on a lot of sites where you can download them from have shared them with other platforms. So only those that PSP on the end are actually compatible with the Sony PSP.
If you are choosing to download games for your PSP on to your PC you will need to get a compression application program, because the fast majority of files held but download websites have been compressed. This is so that they are able to free up more space for them to then provide even more files for their users to select from. For people with PC’s that run Windows, WinZip is the ideal compression application whilst those people who own Mac’s are better off using a program such as Expander.
After the files have been unzipped inside you will find a folder that contains two files. The first file is the one which you need to install on to your PSP as this is the one that contains the games information and which is the one you will use to play the game with. The other folder has come from the developer of the game and is known as the “read me” file.
The next step in order to get the Sony PSP game downloads off of your PC on to your PSP is by connecting the two together. This can be done through connecting the two together using a USB cable. On your PSP you will need to press the home button and then go to the settings feature.
Once in this particular part of your PSP you need to go down to USB connection and then press the X on the PSP. The memory stick contained within your PSP will then connect to your PC. Now all you need to do is copy the file over, but remember to place them in the PSP>Game file on your memory stick in your PSP or they will not work properly.
