If the powers that be are listening, I have an idea.

Firstly, I love the Conversations tab.  My suggestion is to tweak it a little or split it to allow for a section to view my blog conversations in a separate group from the blogs I've commented on. Time management wise, that would be awesome for me.

Does anyone think this idea would have merit?

CW, it would make it easier but when someone comments on my blog it goes in to my conversations anyway.  Actually I generally only use my conversations and most recent..... It could work if there was another tab my blog.....

Hear hear! I agree. I wish we could delete conversations too. There's stuff that I'm not interested in anymore, and wish I wouldn't get e-mail updates and such on them. Just my $0.02.

not that i wanna be a wet blanket, guys, but if they implement this, in what way would it be accessed? perhaps a "most recently commented" option on the my blog page?

    ed,
I would envision it as a separate section under the my conversations tab.  All I would really want to know was if there was new activity on any of my posts at a glance and have those listed together.  Then I would like to be able to see the blogs I've commented on listed separately.

I've got about 91 pages of conversations. ( I'm sure you have more.  :-D ) I was just trying to think of an easier way to hit my posts with new activity first instead of looking through them all.  I'm just not good at remembering how many comments were on a post the last time I looked at it.

Maybe the problem is that I'm commenting too much.  This idea may not work, but it never hurts to ask.  You know?  Maybe others will have better suggestions. :-)

I just had another idea.   Dangerous, I know.  :-)

How about when you pull up the "my blog" page, right under the number of comments it could say who commented last?  At least we would know there had been activity on our posts other than our own.

    Better idea or not?

CW: i dunno, i've got 470...i do like the idea of the my blog page saying who commented last. come to think of it, that would be nice on my users, too.

    ed,
You never cease to amaze me.  I don't know how you keep up, but you do.  Well done.

I don't see how he can keep up, unless soulcast is his primary "job" : )  I am way too busy with work and writing to make 470 comments per day...is that what you mean???  That cannot be what you mean.  I must have misunderstood.  I mean, it has to take close to one minute to read the blog and comment even briefly, right?  That would mean that silverwhisper spends at least six hours a day on soulcast.  Whew.  You deserve some kind of paycheck for that man!  ; )

I like the idea, or, ideas.  I have often thought the same thing myself.  Either on the 'conversations' page, or the 'my blog' page.  My only other beefs are that they need to increase the compose time, or offer a 'save' function that you can use while you write, much like Microsoft Word...AND they need to fix their SEARCH ENGINE.  Unless I am special ; )  it rarely works at all.  They need to fix it.  Holly-Go-Lightly asked me to look at a blog by 0freedom2007, and I couldn't even enter the nick into the search engine...arghhh.

Thanks for posting this CW:  Great idea(s).

I hope soulcast reads it and comments.

truthsayer: CW & i are referring to the number of pages of blog entries in our respective my conversations pages. the moment you blog something and someone else comments on it, or you yourself comment in a blog entry, it becomes part of your my conversations page. as she and i have both been here a while, and we both participate in a number of conversations, those results are actually smaller, at least for my part, than i might otherwise have expected. :>

I thought of this last night as I was trying to sleep. We should be able to archive conversations like we can with gmail. That would be really helpful!

  • silverwhisper said on Apr 26, 2007....
why archive--it'll always be there, ali. SC does not take down old blog enries--only a soulcaster can do that.

well, short of SC determining that a blog entry is in violation of their terms of use, anyway. :>

I mean, archive the conversations that we have so we don't have pages and pages of blogs we've commented on.
