It has been a few days since Colleen and I have been in one place long enough to write.

On Wednesday evening, we took a train from Kiev to Crimea.  We visited an orphanage and met the sweetest little girls.  Then we had to take another train to kharkiv(awful bathrooms on those trains) to get a refusal to adopt letter from the orphanage director. Dan loved riding on all the trains, we had sleeping compartments so it was quite comfortable.   Now we will ask for another appointment at the SDA.  We are not sure if they will give us one.  We are now back in Kiev after riding on trains for three days.  And an 8 hour car ride added to that. The paperwork in this country is so slow and backwards.  If we don't get an appointment in the next few days, we will have to leave because we have to have jobs to go back to!

Awe...so sorry!  This must be so difficult for you!
Can I ask why they refused you for adopting?

Hi Colleen, So glad to hear you liked the girls in Crimea! I am sure you will get another appointment, since the Kharkiv director was the one who refused you the girls there due to siblings - so I'm sure you will get referral to the girls in Crimea!! You can visit Diana there - that will be fun! It is a beautiful area of Ukraine!! Keep thinking positive! blessings, Maggie

Colleen and Dan, I'm following your exploits. Here's hoping everything works out for the best. Keeping my fingers crossed. I'm glad Dan enjoyed the train rides. Nancy
