Okay, inspired by Zayda's beautiful posted video, I have to ask: How did the Dixie Chicks win a Grammy for their new album?

I've never heard any songs from this album. I don't listen to just Country stations, but I bounce around a bit between Country and Rock and Hard Rock and Alternative, etc. As far as I can tell, the Chicks are getting no airplay at all. Not even their older stuff.

Not that radio stations make the best choices when it comes to music.

I still like the Dixie Chicks even if I may disagree with them politically. To me, their politics have no bearing whatsoever on the quality of their music. Heck, if you want to make a political statement by not buying stuff then make it by not buying stuff made in China or whatever.

But for my own musical choices, do the Grammies have any relevance? I don't really think so. But the show for the Grammy awards still seems to be as important as the Oscars do for movies. There must be some kind of disconnect somewhere.

Has anyone else heard songs from this album?

I can't say that I have heard anything from this album and maybe have heard a couple of their other songs.

From what I've heard it's all Natalie Maines trying to do Cheryl Crow. Martie and Emily are nowhere except as background vocalists.

Actually their latest album is a waste of their tremendous talent. Martie and Emily's, that is.

As for the Grammies, all you have to do is say or sing "I hate Bush" and you're a shoo-in for a nomination.

I too posted about this awhile back....same as Al Gore winning an oscar....so transparant.....what about the peoples choice awards ?....nothing.....Country Music Awards? nada......most of the entertainment world is a joke....bunch of butt kissing commies.  I am one of those who boycots the chicks...used to love em...now they are on the heap with Johnny Depp, Sean Penn, Rosie O'Donnell, and sadly...Charlie Sheen....I loved two and a half men....now I won't watch it.

I love it when you call liberals commies.  It gives me license to call conservatives fascists.

oh fascists.....you mean like the type that like to censor people? ....you know...like the libs tryin to get rid of talk radio? that kind of fascists?

I have never cared for the dixie chicks because their lead singer is too arrogant for me.

Yeah, I didn't really want to explore the liberal vs. conservative politics of it too much... At least not ours so much. Like I said, I still like their music even if I didn't like Natalie's comments.

I was more wondering how they won a Grammy when they don't seem to be getting any airplay? Or are they getting airplay just not on Country stations?

I listen to rock and alternative and random mix stations as well, and I haven't heard the Chicks on any of those stations.

I think it has everything to do with it TS....most of the entertainment industry is so far left, that they will give these awards to people for a political reason before giving it to the person who actually deserves it for the purpose of which it was intended. I'd rather it not be political, but it is.

sadly, d6 is right; it does have everything to do w/ it b/c the country radio audiences can't seem to distinguish b/n music and politics, as far as the advertisers are concerned. i think the advertisers are simply being insulting bastards, but then again, they usually are IMHO.

and d6, if you start on w/ that liberals = commies bullshit, expect to be called on it every time, fascist.
