While I had not realized that former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee was one of my dozen or so loyal readers, I was pleased to hear his recent comments criticizing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for his ludicrous assertions that he is a life-long hunter. As some of you may remember, I criticized Romney’s hypocrisy for purchasing a lifetime membership to the National Rifle Association last year, in what was an obvious political ploy. Huckabee must have read my post and ran with it.
Huckabee obviously has his own personal motivations for criticizing Romney, whose campaign has been bringing in money as fast as the Treasury Department can print it. But, as the saying goes, it doesn’t take a saint to tell the truth, and Huckabee was right to call Romney out.
Really, it’s no surprise that Romney has such an edge over most other candidates when it comes to fund-raising. Nothing brings in donations like flexible morality, particularly from corporations and special interest groups. And Romney, through his courtship of the NRA, has hung a bold ‘for sale’ sign outside his campaign headquarters.
What happened to that guy who showed such bold leadership when construction problems arose on Boston highways and tunnels? I don’t know, but he’s gone – long gone. And I wouldn’t give him a dollar.
Anyway, thanks Mike Huckabee. Keep reading. More instructions will follow.
