What does everybody think of the fact that Disneyland's wedding package will now be offered to same sex couples?

I would say keep your kids away from a place that advocates perversion. A
better question might be, would Walt Disney ever have stood for such an
abomination? I doubt it. God, where does it end?

"I would say keep your kids away from a place that advocates perversion"

This sounds funny from the guy that makes so many sexual posts.
    @sean
    I think it's a good thing.

    So do I.

I think they will enjoy more profits via acceptance of all, after all, the public at large is their intention from the on-set.....who proclaimed Disney a "Christian Amusement & Theme Park" as Alien alludes to?

Wasn't Walt Disney Gay ?  I might be wrong, seems I might have read that somewheres.  But I do not think he excluded same sex couples from his Parks, ever.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I say who cares? If someone wants to get married at Disney Land, let them, gay or straight.

I cannot understand the intolerance people have for one another. Over the years, people have been killed for things that today we would find so trivial. For instance, wanting the bible printed in any language other than Latin. More than one free thinker was burned at the stake for this "offense". I could go on and on giving similar examples but you get the picture.

I truly hope that when I am a grandma, and my granchildren ask me about what it was like when I was young, and I explain to them that people were discriminated against because they had a certain skin color, religious preference or sexual orientation, they will look at me in disbelief. I hope that such a concept will be so foreign and strange to them that they will feel sorry for me that I had to live in such an unforgiving and cruel world.

People who use religion to discriminate against others forget that Jesus wanted us to LOVE each other. Even if you hate the sin, love the sinner. No one is perfect or without sin, so what gives me or anyone else a right to judge someone?

Just my two cents worth. :)

I'd say everyone has their right to their opinion. This is our World today and we have to respect other people and their lifestyles. Do you have to except it on a personal level? That I leave to the individual. Disney will come around. Bet your bottom dollar on that 1. Rosie's Cruise is still available meanwhile as is other alternatives that can take money from Disney.

I agree with sheissilent......who am I to say who someone can fall in love with and marry?  No one can change other peoples' feelings and thoughts and just because someone makes a law against it doesn't change anything.  It doesn't affect me or my family, so more power to 'em.

it's about time--disney has traditionally been very gay friendly. i laughed out loud when i heard about the southern baptist boycott a few years ago, which went on to have absolutely zero impact on the mouse.

    I don't care.

Seriously. Why is this an issue? People are people.
  • LadyGamer said on Apr 09, 2007....
When you consider that Disney has a Gay and Lesbian day, this doesn't seem that farfetched. Profit is profit no matter what sex the bride is.
  • agentPit said on Apr 09, 2007....
Only Hypocrites, Religion extremists and Christianize Al Qaeda will paranoid on the issue. As long as they, whom I consider screwed up,  not try to seduce me or try to force convert  youngster will be treated equally as any other human being.

Like it or not, society  changing along with progression of civilization, only paranoid backward thinkers would waste their time to resist or hoping time freeze if not roll back in time.

Wasn't too long ago the color people was mud people and rejected from public place solely for white?  Beside, Religious people done worst thing by knowing they are not suppose to do and purposely commit crime against humanity and violated every fundamental principal bible  had taught them as GOD loving soul.

Live with it or cope with it, like it or not. However, you could cocoon yourselves in a far away tiny island where virtually not to worry about anything but you.

I'd say that if folks don't want to patronize Disney for this or that reason, that's their choice.

I'd also say that if Disney as a private entity wants to host gay weddings, that's their choice.

One big question is whether or not the State of Florida will consider such marriages legal - or are these celebrations simply declarations of love and committment without State license?

I may be in the minority among my fellow conservatives, but I'm of the mind that "small, limited  government" also means keeping Government out of the personal lives of consenting adults.
  • bloc said on Apr 09, 2007....
curm nailed it. That's exactly how I see it as well.
  • silverwhisper said on Apr 09, 2007....
curmudgeon: you're a classic conservative. personally, while i would prefer that gays be allowed to marry in any state of the union, i can support the idea of determining these things at the state level. my assumption is that these are more unity celebrations rather than actual marriages. disney understands the way the law works in their home state, i'm quite sure.

good on the people at disney land. gay people should be offered the same rights as all other couples. gay people may be different to straight couples but don't disadvantage us for loving the same sex. you can't help you fall in love with.

Are we talking Disneyland, in California? Is gay marriage even legal there? Oh, wait, I forgot what state we are talking about ... insanity central.
  • SeanRenaud said on Apr 09, 2007....
Its ok that your a religious zealot and a bigot to boot.  We forgive you ALIEN, though its little wonder that you are alienated from sane society.

Alien - If california is insanity central, I'm happy to be part of the insanity.  Tho far from being the most liberal state, california is elvolved enough to see that all people should be treated equal, no matter who they love.

Disney is simply acting on that philosophy of treating all people equally.
