According to a documentary called, Jesus Christ the Real Story Jesus decided to begin his ministry because of his baptism in the Jordan River.   That event  according to the documentary and his exchange with the rabbi’s in the temple at age twelve is what prompts Jesus  to fight against  the injustices iniquity and opulence that the divided the different casts in Jerusalem are was pushed Jesus to go against the status quo later in his life.

The documentary presents a Jesus that does everything as act of protest. His preaching, his healings, and even his parables that are not to be misunderstood, as simple everyday teachings   but as quit acts of subversion against the Sanhedrin and  the Roman Empire.

What distinguishes Jesus from previous Messiahs and healers according to the documentary is his rejection of violence.  He “fought” out in the open with his parables and healings. He befriended sinners, Gentiles and women. He also criticized the excessive use of canonical teachings to keep the sick and weak that were ostracized  away from the temples because they were considered “unclean”. He offered salvation for everyone and this made him a popular figure.   In his Sermon on the Mount according to this documentary we not only lear nJesus main spiritual tenants but also his political agenda.  Using non violent tactics Jesus would gain support to fight against classism  and expel the Romans from the region..

It  proposes that Jesus was not a successful Messiah because his message when agaisnt the establishment and because he was killed. However, the documentary that is interesting and educational in presenting and explaining archeological findings that give validity to and explain several passages of Jesus life However it fails becuase it seeks to present Jesus as a mere political muckraker.   That saw injustice around him,  went against the status quo and  as a philosopher that died at the hands of the Romans's and Sanhedrin defending  his ideals.

The documentary fails to take into consideration why Jesus became and continues to be not only a man that influenced history and Western culture but a savior and God with a big G  to many of us that are Christians. His message was not that simple and is universal. He not only seeks for us to battle injustice, poverty, illness and classim. He wants us to abandon materialism and selfishness not as an act defiance  but for us to become better people and seek God. Jesus  is more than  an unfortunate philosopher that died for his ideals like Socrates.

Jesus unlike my pal Socrates,  lives not only on paper but he is with me every instant of my life. Yes he died for my sins, but  resurrected on the third day . Many Davinci Codes and “Tombs of Jesus” can come and go. Those poor people they need money I don’t even need the Shroud of Turin to believe that his resurrection was true and you know why ….because I am a real muckraker and have Faith with a big F.

i want to think about this some more before commenting in greater detail.

certainly, he was a revolutionary figure, but i'm not sure how much he set out to protest the sanhedrin specifically.

What I know is that Jesus came to teach and live a new way free of religion.  The "one right way"  and the "one God" teaching came from the Hebrew Nation because of their experiences with Jehovah.  Jesus was not really against anyone or anything.  He allowed people their choice.  They could see how he lived and hear what he taught just as he could see and know the Jehovah teachings.  He broke the laws of Jehovah in order to show people that they did not have to be followed because they take away the right of individualism and clump everyone into one mass and that never works for fairness or evolution. There was no piece of real estate call "heaven"  until religion created it.  Jesus said the Kingdom of Heaven was likened unto a mustard seed.  Kinda hard to put billilns of people onto a tiny little seed. He did not die for any one's "sins" for no one sins.  They just are. In the Old Testament there were no sins .    Jehovah stated that he did evil things and that he created evil. Sin was orginally an archers term that meant "to miss the mark".  Jesus died because his disciples wanted him to stop all of that namby pamby stuff of loving everyone and get on with being the power(like Jehovah) that would free them from bondage and place them over the Romans. This was their teachings of the covenant made between the Hebrew nation and Jehovah.  The disciple refused to believe Jesus because they saw that he had the power and knew it could be used to destroy their enemies and place them  over the heads of other nations as Jehovah had done before.  Jesus says repeatedly "have you still not learned" to the disciples.  After 3 yrs of teachings and they had still not learned what he endeavored to teach them do you think he will make them CEO's of his company?  For you to know.

As we read through the Bible and obey it, God's Word becomes our spiritual food and our source of strength and spiritual insight to accomplish His will....
As Christian's we learn that the just shall live by faith alone, so what is faith and how do we get it....
You do not have to live in bondage to things that you have done in the past nor things that others have done to you. Set yourself free through none other than through the Lord, Jesus Christ....
