My whole house is small, but I would have to say that my bathroom is the smallest room.  If I'm lucky, I have just enough room to change my mind in there.

What is your most cramped space?

LMAO!!!  Change your mind in there...

Our downstairs bathroom is the smallest too.  My Husband shrunk it to make just a little more room for the kitchen, which is STILL small, lol!

Other than the bathroom, it'd be our kitchen.

    LOL!

The smallest room is the downstairs bathroom. It shouldn't really be designated bathroom as there's no bath just a toilet & a sink and barely room to turn round and close the door.

    LOL!!!

    That's really funny CW!

The smallest room in the house is our bathroom.  I think it's about 4 feet wide and 10 feet long.  It's pretty small.

    much respect,

Our bathroom is the smallest and then after that, the living room and kitchen would compete for the smallest. This house was weirdly designed. The dining room is the biggest room downstairs with the living room and kitchen smaller than the dining room.

yep, bathroom here too. and like everyone else, i loved that turn of phrase, CW. :>

We have a powder room off our kitchen that is so small that when I am seated on the commode I can rest my forehead on the front of the sink. The room is so narrow that I can't fit a mophead between the base of the commode and either wall. In fact, I can touch both side walls at the same time with my elbows. I'd like to convert it to a pantry (which it might have been in its original incarnation).
  • Alyss said on Apr 05, 2007....
LJ our bathroom is so small that while you are seated on the 'throne' your elbows are either resting on the sink or brushing against a wall and your knees are becoming well acquainted with the door!

We have two bathrooms (one for B, one for me), and they're both very small. The kitchen would be next up. I have a very small kitchen. If I am positioned in the center of it, if I rotate one way I can touch the stove, rotate the other way and I can open the refrigerator. One other person and I cannot work in there at the same time. We've tried that before and B very nearly lost an important part of his anatomy when I rolled backward. The handles nearly skewered his masculinity. Oops.

    daily,
I need a bigger kitchen too.

    Lucy,
I am envious of that big bathroom!

    Alyss,
Those bathrooms can be handy though. :-)

    paid,
    That does sound small.

    Zayda,
I can understand the weird design aspect of your house.  All the rooms in this house are too small for normal people.

    ed,
Thanks.  Small bathrooms seem to be common. :-)

    lionel,
I could also rest my head on the sink in my bathroom.  I can even peruse the medicine cabinet if I want to.

    Alyss,
That is small. If I turn to the left, I'm in the sink.  If I turn to the right, I'm in the bathtub/shower. I need to stand over the toilet to close the door which barely clears the sink.

    Mimi,
My goodness! That is a small kitchen. :-)

    CW..."changing mind".....lol.....genious ....

Well, believe it or not not my 2 bathrooms are really big for this tiny apt...i was shocked how big they are..and mine has even a window.....double wow ....i didnt have a window in any of my 3 bathrooms at my old home...go figure...

So the smallest room is (unfortunately) the kitchen....

Even though the laundry room has barely the space for standing in the middle of the dryer and the washer...but i cant consider that a room....:-)

Mimi--Our kitchen sounds rather like that. It's a narrow kitchen. So, I can stand at the stove, pivot and take one full step and reach the sink.

What's worse is there is no freaking counter space or cabinet space in the kitchen. So our back hallway leading to the basement and back door is lined with shelves to become a pseudo-pantry.
  • MissMimi said on Apr 05, 2007....
Zee, I feel your pain. We have shelves right outside the back door leading into the garage. I've often thought some of the space that was used for the garage (it's huge--a generous 2 1/2 car garage) could have been put to better use as living area. Whoever designed these ranch homes got their architecture degree at KMart. I've tried to get B interested in remodeling and knocking out some walls, but it's a no-go.
  • CreativeWoman said on Apr 05, 2007....
I have two cabinets on my back porch that hold my crockpots and various other pots and pans that won't fit in my kitchen.  I don't have that much to put away, but I have zero space to do it in.  sigh....

Right now the bathrooms are the smallest rooms in the townhouse....but the most cramped room is the P/C room and it's also the smallest of the 3 bedrooms. I got it filled with all kinds of junk ( I'm a packrat and proud of it ).
  • CreativeWoman said on Apr 05, 2007....
    RC,
I'm a packrat too.  I keep lots of things simply because of their sentimental value.

Our bathroom is definitely the smallest. There is just enough room to stand between the potty and the bathtub and forget about trying to undress and wrestle two little boys into the tub....there just isn't enough room!
  • CreativeWoman said on Apr 05, 2007....
    moms,
It sounds like one of those situations where you can never avoid a water mess.

I wonder why architects design such small bathrooms in the first place?

The closet to where I keep my  husband is the smallest and then it's our bathroom, we only have one. :(
  • hotaka said on Apr 05, 2007....

I laughed too at your "change my mind" remark. My toilet room is the smallest. In Japan the toilet and bathroom are separate. I can just turn around in the toilet room.

My cousin in Denmark once had a bathroom so small you had to shower standing with your hip against the sink and on foot resting on the toilet seat. There was no actually shower or bath. You closed the door and turned on the water in a space that would space-wise make a closet look like a living room.

  • CreativeWoman said on Apr 05, 2007....
    mom,
I didn't count my closets.  I think mine were designed by a nudist.  :-)

    hotaka,
I think your cousin's Denmark bathroom gets the prize for smallest.  Wow.  You could do all your morning rituals at once, if you know what I mean.  :-)

my bathroom and it's a pretty large room.....other than that probably a room in the basement that serves as my husbands music room right now.  It's T-I-N-Y.

CW you crack me up, mom and cw are welcome any time to Lucy's bathroom, so you can rollerskate or swing a cat and find the answers to the universe.. he he heee

Its actually a selfish pre requisite for me if I don't have at least one decent size bathroom in the hosue then we aren't staying in it.... can't cut back on some things..... you know shoes, hand bags, fag bangles, big bathrooms.

I don't do small one day I might take you guys (just you two) through my house so you can see what space is with 2 bedrooms... its not a big house just well laid out. lol
  • CreativeWoman said on Apr 07, 2007....
    mom,
Thanks.  It's just our great minds at it again.  lol :-D

    hotaka,
Yep.  That's what I was thinking all right.  :-D  Small, but efficient.

    Lucy,
Sounds like fun.  And I will go on record that a woman can never have too many shoes.  :-D
