This is a hard question to answer. I don't even know if I can answer it. But I'll try.
She has to be smart. Not necessarily book learning, but what is called "common sense". Stuff that you learn by living and observing; things you learn by making and learning from your mistakes.
She has to have a sense of self. She has to know who she is and what she wants, but without being selfish.
She has to be empathetic. She needs to know when to listen and not comment, but to comment when comments are called for or are needed. She needs to know when to vent and let others listen to her.
She needs to know when to be forceful and when to stand for what she believes in. And she needs to know when to back down.
She needs to know when to bend without breaking, and when to stand without bending.
She has to know that no matter what, others love and depend on her. She needs to know that even when she cannot stand on her own there are others to carry her when she needs it.
There's probably more, but that's all I can think of for now.

He loved me and my children like no body I'd ever dated. He always put them 1st when he walked in my house. When I saw him love so abundantly I said that is the man for me. Does he still have that ? Debateable. -

HH - It is very rare to find someone who does not make your children a second priority. I can see why that meant so much to you, as a mom myself. As with all relationships, the living tends to wear down the initial glow. -

While I think I require intelligence the most. There is another trait that rivals the first mentioned.
She has to be comfortable in her own skin. Society is very hard on women. To find a woman who is comfortable with her body whether her tits are too small or her waist, too wide, is extremely attractive. Now, I do not encourage being comfortable with an unhealthy weight but if she loves herself, and loses weight for herelf and not for society, she's got my interest. -
