I broke up with my girlfried yesterday....we went to a leadership seminar on friday. It lasted for about 8 hrs and the entire day she ignored me. While she ignored me she kept initiating conversation with this kid who has hurt me in the past. So I called her the next day to ask her what was up with all of this strange behavior. She told me that it was because that kid was her best friend and she wanted to talk to him...does this giver her the right to ignore me? Then she told me that I couldn't control who she was friends with..and I said no I never wanted to and she said I was. I just ended the circle with I can control who my girlfriend is...and then we broke up...did I do the right thing? Was I to harsh? I liked her but I always thought she never really liked me as much as I liked her, kind of a dead end relationship. Any words of wisdom?

you really can't control someone else. you can try, but you won't win...so my advice is not to try to tell someone who they can and cannot be friends with.
that being said, if she ignored you for the 8 hours only to talk to some other guy, i'd say that was a pretty good signal she wasn't that interestedin you, so you probably did the right thing by breaking it off.r

I agree with Secretlife. Her actions spoke loud and clear. You deserve better treatment than that if she cared about you. People do not let their buddies get in the way of a love interest. Sometimes when a person wants a relationship to end, they act out so the other person will end it and they did not have to....Cut your losses. There are other girls. -
