Those of you who consciously knew and admitted that you are spending far too much time in Soulcast, both online and offline, do you seek or engage in any form of treatment, whether professional or otherwise?  Does your situation warrant such a reaction?

Do you make a conscious effort to take your mind off blgging, and perhaps, find a balance in your life?  If yes, just what are your remedies?  Are they effective?

For me, i try to completely switch my mind off blogging (it's proving to be increasingly difficult task) and indulge in activities I have always enjoyed, pre-blogging days.

Exercising is a good way to ensure sanity and at the same time help me destress and keep fit.  Swimming would be my favourite exercise, if the weather permits.  I also catch up on my reading, and engage in a bout of gaming every now and then.

However, as this previous post here revealed, I'm doing less and less of those activities, and it was ages ago since I last touched my gaming console.  Oh boy, I seriously need to wide the dust off my XBox and catch up on my 'Call of Duty 3'!

Too often lately, I have found myself sitting in front of the computer, staring at the pages of SoulCast--and a depression will hit me.  I might have just recently had a nice time reading, posting and commenting, but all of a sudden, I just feel wiped out, sad, and have to shut down and go lie in bed to read or sleep.  Even junk tv shows have been like medicine to take away the effects of too much time in this chair with my back to the world behind me.

Don't get me wrong--I will still be around, and will still have times that I am around too long at one sitting, but hopefully not as often.  The weather is getting nicer and I need to get out and feel a little sunlight on my face.  I also need to be packing, cleaning, and a million other things.  I enjoy being here--it's just that I have been enjoying it way too much!  Too much of a good thing is never good.

wombat, I like your description "...too much time in this chair with my back to the world behind me."

take a break, take a nice stroll in the park, enjoy the sunshine, smell the roses.

tinker- I'm on this site (the only one I visit) for enjoyment. If that ever ceases and it becomes a job, I'm outta here. The rest of my time on the computer is e-mail, ordering, or searching something of interest. Soulcast is enjoyable spare time and doesn't affect the rest of my life.

I can't sit too long at computer screens, they tire me.

beyond, I'm glad blogging did not cause an imbalance in your life.  Good for you!

Balance is what this site has provided for me.  Being reclusive by nature, and somewhat untutored in social interactions, I am learning a great deal about people in a social forum and venturing out, as they say, into the world of others.

It must be how Soul Cast is built up . I have another blog where I just go the round. That is I can see what my blog friends have written I comment and write my blog. I get about 100 -130 guests a day,. In the beginning I had about 30. It does not consume the  time like when I´m here and it must have something to do with she system of the blog if  you get my meaning.

3Fw, thanks for pointing out the reverse views of this discussion, and I'm happy for the balance you got from Soulcast, which is missing in your earthly life.

skald, i deduced that you spent a lot of time blogging, commenting and replying to your readers.  But how do you find the balance between your virtual life and earthly life?

Which was missing. in my earthly life...but I agree with ya, tooo much of anything isn't a good thing.  My earthly life, my virtual life, my spiritual life all require a measure.  Thanks.

SW, what degree of success have you achieved so far?  And what are your methods to pull yourself away from here?
  • skald said on Apr 01, 2007....
Tinkermann. I ask the same question. I have brought up two boys. I stood by my son when he had drug problems and I had all kind of difficulties then. More than I care to tell anybody about. He is clean now and is mastering his studies.
I have been helping my Alzheimer deceased mother  and I helped when my father was a very sick man. I take car of grand children . They stay over each weekend and have done for years now. I never hardly have a free time still I go to a music  school and I sing and sing on concerts . Before being busy taking care of other people I learned to play piano. I have learned some languages.  I come here to have some time for my self.
  • skald said on Apr 01, 2007....
I meant to say in spite of being busy I learned to play because it was my dream. What have you achieved?

TS: doing more things w/ the mrs is what works for me. that, and keeping my comments as minimalistic as possible. :>

Ed. Your right. I should also keep my comments minimalistic. I thought  yesterday that the question to CW was aimed at me.
