Just a peek inside the clutterbox that is my mind.

I came across my brace and crutches in the garage today.  They just look weird.  I bet it's been 20 years since I've used them.  Yes, I think I remember that the last time I stood up, I got really dizzy and had to sit right back down.  Altitude sickness.  If you knew how tall I wasn't this would make you laugh.

It is absolutely gorgeous today.  Bright sun, in the mid-60's.  The trees are blooming, the daffodils are up and there's little duckies at the pond.  It was a great day to open the sunroof and put on some loud music.  Life is good today.

Looks more and more like I will be getting a tattoo for my birthday.  I'm really excited about this.  I'm going to be inked!  Now I just have to decide what I want.

I've been informed by MimiJr that it is SwampAss season.  You know the clammy feeling you get from sitting in the car too long in the summer?  Swamp ass.  Not a good thing. It may be an indelicate thing to bring up in mixed company, but you can depend on me to be indelicate.

We had a real life segment of Cops at the end of my street today.  Five police cruisers had the street blocked and some kid was face down spread-eagle on the ground.  I had to go around the block to get into my driveway.  I gotta wonder why it took 5 police cars to take down one kid.  We don't usually get this much excitement on Friday afternoons.

When I talked to MimiJr. just a minute ago, she was very excited to tell me that my boytoy Keith Urban and his lovely wife Nicole are expecting.  Hmmm.  I really thought they didn't--well, you know.

Okay, that's all I have for now.

it was absolutely gorgeous here too today...sunshine, blue skies, white puffy clouds, birds singing (and doing other things too that my middle one was all-to-glad to point out)....

our flowers have a few weeks yet before they start to pop.

i wonder what crime that kids committed?

and i thought Nicole couldn't have kids?

Beautiful here too.  Mid 70s and the cherry blossoms are going wild.  A little windy, but that's what they make kites for.

It's possible that 5 cop cars showed up because there wasn't much else to do.  Who knows.

Nicole can have kids.  She just was smart enough not to have them for Tom who it would seem is waaaaay too involved in his wife's pregnancy.

Nice seasonal day with just enough crispness to keep one wide awake yet basking in the sun allowed through....

5 cop cars one kid....a local crime wave...lol

    Tom =  Dee ... Dee ... Deeeeeeee..... : - }

Secret, Yep, I've seen the ducks at the pond having a "gang bang". Honest to God, one female and three or four male ducks chasing after her and trying to mount her. Ah, spring...

Unique, I agree, Nicole was smart to divorce that lunatic.  I feel kinda sorry for whatshername and the baby.

Cam, Yes, five cars. He didn't look too scary to me. He actually looked like he was near tears.
  • CamDaMan20 said on Mar 30, 2007....
ahhh.....yes.   The art of extensive intimidation.  Seems like law enforcement can get their priorities mixed up from time to time.
  • MissMimi said on Mar 30, 2007....
His car was open, doors, trunk, everything. I didn't see what preceded it. Could be he ran, and they had to chase him down. That might explain all the cop cars.

So, Mimi, you're getting a tattoo for your birthday. Have you picked out a tattoo artist yet?

it's still a little cool here but it was bright and sunny today.

we are supposed to get a rain snow mix next week though, so spring hasn't quite latched on here.

    Hiya Mims!!

Glad to hear that you are in such a lovely mood :-)  It makes my heart happy!

I dont think that I will ever get a tattoo, but if I HAD to it would have to be on a part of my body that will not stretch with age, perhaps a daisy on my baby toe. . .wait, that might be far too painful!  I am a big sissy for pain!

I just heard red and green ink are the most difficult to get rid of...black is the easiest. ;)

botoni, you sweet talker! I want a small tattoo at the top of my left breast. My daughter suggested I get it on my derriere, but nobody ever sees my derriere, well maybe one person... If I get a tattoo, I want to be able to see it every day.

SS, that's why I have to consider very carefully what kind of tattoo I want.

Polarcakes... You have to be brave. If I ever get to the UK, I will take you to get a tattoo.

Ed, see above.  High enough that I won't have to undress to show it off.

CW, I think I'm getting my tattoo where my daughter lives.

Zee, I got a recommendation from a good friend of my daughters.  He's had several done by the same tattoo artist and offered to go with me and hold my hand.  It's not set in stone yet though, so if you have some ideas, i'd love to hear them.

  • Zayda said on Mar 31, 2007....
Well if you have a recommendation from a good friend of your daughter's that's good. But before just going with the recommendation, ask to see his tattoos if they are in places you can look at them. Look at the line work (the outline of the tattoo.) Make sure the line work is clean and neat and not shaky looking. Then look at the color--the depth of it, the use of it. Look at the whole tattoo and look for things like proportion and balance. Look at how the tattoo flows with the curve of where it's located on the body.

If the shop where the artist works has a website, find out what it is and go look at the website to see if the artist has a portfolio of his work online. Take a look at the work in the portfolio to see what he/she has done. Is there a particular style the artist specializes in: gray & white line work, old school, oriental, new school?

Finally, I would recommend making a trip to meet the artist and talk to him/her before you schedule the appointment for the tattoo. See if he/she sets you at ease and you would be comfortable with him/her working on you.

Finally, in terms of selecting the design you want, I would talk to the artist about that.  Do you just want a piece of flash (a pre-design that tons of people may already have) off the wall or do you want something unique.  If you want something unique, talk to the artist about what you want.  But be expected to pay for the time he/she takes to draw the design up as well as the ink time as well.  After all it's custom art you are paying for to be put on your body.

In terms of tattoo colors, you should know that some people have reactions to red, yellow, and purple inks.  And sometimes the reaction can cause your skin to "throw" or sort of reject the ink, which can make the tattoo look splotchy.  Most tattoos, regardless of color, have a black outline, which is part of what keeps the color from leeching beyond the design.  Although, some very good ones are done without any black in them at all.

Depending on where you get the tattoo on your chest may influence how painful it is.  The flesher parts tend to hurt a bit less than the part that is less fleshy (i.e. closer to the collarbone).

I'm not sure how far you want to travel for your tattoo, Mimi because the artists I know in Ohio that do great work are in Lancaster, Columbus, and Toledo, Ohio.

"Monk" Taylor at Infinite Art in Toledo does fabulous work.  Brion Norwalk, of the same studio, does great work as well. (You can click on their individual names from the sites home page to see their portfolios.

    J. Brett Prince, who owns Renaissance Tattoos in Lancaster, Ohio and also works at  High Street Tattoo in Columbus two or three days a week does some of the best work I have ever seen.  Giovanni at High Street Tattoo also does some amazing work, as does Scott.

Stained Skin Tattoo, also located on High Street in Columbus, has come highly recommended to my by some friends, but I don't really know any of the artists there.

My favorite artist, and the one I would go to before anyone, is in Vail, Colorado, but that's quite a trip for you.  ;)

Gosh, that was longer than I realized. Sorry, Mimi. I probably should have made that a blog entry all on its very own.

Zee, thank you--that is excellent info. E-mail to follow.

Wow...never realized buckeye-d girls were so cool.  Recently had Gothic style hinges installed on each elbow w/ gargoyles etched within.

Mimi--Any time. I'll check the email and if there is anything else you want to know, ask. :)

Cam, buckeye-d girls do a lot of cool things that would surprise you. ;)
