  I wish I had great stories to share...but my experience runs a little dry in the true love/romance department! The only one I can think of was not out of love but it was still sweet. My boyfriend was 4 hrs away completing a professional requirement and was going to miss my birthday. I cried and made him feel so guilty that he dropped the phone and drove all the way to my house....arrived in the middle of the night with my gift and as soon as I opened the door he just started kissing me and crying because he made me cry...

  I once called to ask about a guy I once dated (this was afteer my recent divorce)  I found out he was in jail for DUI's.  I ended up driving back and forth for weeks on end to see him in jail about 40 miles away.  I spent money on him, took him in when he got out, moved with him to another place, and then he proceeds to tell me he will "never love me like that."  (The marriage thing)  When he got drunk one night and tripped over my son sitting in the floor--I wised up and got out.
   
  From then on, it was my son first--then me.  My currrent hubby took care of both of us--and even commented how it felt "like a family" when we were still just dating.  Love, or something like it, doesn't always come first in a relationship.  Sometimes it just grows.

  womabt - it's funny what we will do when we think we are in love. I am sorry that guy was such a jerk - but it sounds like you finally have someone to appreciate you and you and your son.
   
  And I couldn't agree more with your comment about love doesnt always come first, sometimes it just grows. Every man I have ever loved - it grew to that from friendship, it was never love at first sight - only lust! Thanks!

  I asked an ex-to marry me 5 months after we broke up. I ended the relationship in the first place and while I was going about my life, I kept finding myself in 'aha' moments... I came to a point where I said to myself, "She's the one and you let her go?!?!?!?!" I screwed up and knew it. I won't give all the details for why but, I drove to her work with two coffees. One with a latte the other with a ring. Went right into her office and asked her to marry me. Let's just say... It didn't turn out how I had hoped:-) But I do not regret doing what I felt was the right thing to do.
