According to some research put out by Nielsen Media Research, while all makes of mobiles have a wide spread of customer types some groups are more attracted to certain brands than others.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported mobile phone stereotype as:

Nokia : Family-minded / Middle aged managers / Balance seekers / Health conscious

Motorola : Fashion conscious / Under 24 / Fun seekers / Individualistic

Sony Ericsson : Ambitious young men / Professionals / Success driven / Individualistic

LG : Favourite of mums / Stay-at-home parents / Success driven / Harmony seekers

Samsung : Young women / Career focused / Success driven / Fun seekers

I'm using Sony Ericsson W810i.  So what mobile phone brand and model are you using?
Does it represent your character or personality?

Umm, my wife and I both have LGs. My wife got a newer model but they are both bottom-end units.

We're cheap. And we don't have a home phone--it's cell phone only.

I have a nokia, I'm not sure of the model though. It's new, i just traded in my grey one for a black one. I am family minded, I am health conscious and a balance seeker but i'm not middle aged. :)

    I wish I was under 24 again...

But I would do all the same things. Good and bad.

tinker- We chose our server, not our phones. When the contract is up, they offer a new phone for a good price and we usually get one.

I have no idea what mine is and I doubt my wife does either. Motorola comes to mind, but the research wouldn't apply anyway. I wonder what the research would say about someone who doesn't care?

my motorola's an old model and i basically only chose it b/c it didn't cost me anything. of course, it's also a bondage phone. :>

I will make you laugh.  I've had this celll for about 18 months. I keep it in my van in a special little slot.  i know i should bring it in, but i never do.

i went out just for you to look see what it is-  motorola.
when i switched service providers my husband wanted new phones.  he wanted a flip with a camera.  soooooooooo...they had a special going and i ended up getting 2. Definitely not under 24 here.

Ed, when my husband and I got our new ones last week he wanted a cover like that....i'll just never think of it the same way again!

SL, thanks for running out to get a look-see, to confirm the brand.

Seems like most of you have reported using Motorola, I get the impression Motorola is very popular in US.

For the last 5 years or so, Nokia was the No.1 bestseller of mobile handset here in sg, however, of late, its no.1 position is seriously being challenge by more innovative and sleeker designer offerings from Samusung and Sony Ericsson.

I have LG because it's a good brand, a young company still trying to make its name and thus very customer oriented. Plus the added perk of being my online initials was just cool.

LG user here.  I'm very happy with my phone.  It also takes photos for those moments when I don't have my camera with me....and it's an EXCELLENT alarm clock too.  I use it to wake up every single morning.

    Mobile?  Mine's a Calder.

I have a motorola, but it was more of a price thing.  I literally told the salesman, give me the cheapest phone you have that has a camera.

The only word that describes me in the research is individualistic, but then I'd have bought any phone that was cheap.

Ed, you still have that poor phone tied up? I remember that thread. LOL

I have an LG camera phone.  It was free when we signed up for two years.

Kelly, you and I think alike, though clearly you have a higher budget for home decoration than most of us. :D

lioneljay:  I only wish.  It was all I could do to afford a Botero.  :-)

Kelly, I heard a rumor recently that Bush's staff was considering buying him an Alabama for his retirement gift. They found a rain-damaged one and are hoping that no one else finds it and renovates it before 2008.
