Tomorrow is the 9th straight day of work for me.  I'm getting pretty burned out.  Worse than that, I have to spend the whole day tomorrow driving around in my car with my BOSS!  Ack!  She's actually my manager's boss.  She's the director.  Now why is she riding along with me, you ask?  I'll tell you why.

I think she's checking up on me to make sure I'm doing my job.  Now, mind you, I worked 8 straight days so far.  She's checking up on me because I'm not very timely with handing in my paperwork.  Paperwork is the bane of my existence.  I hate them.  Some days, I refuse to do them.

Besides from me not turning in my paperwork, I happen to think I do an excellent job out there on the field.  I bust my hump, dammit.  So to tell you the truth, I am a little insulted that she feels the need to check up on me.

Well, if I feel half as delirious as I am now from lack of quality sleep, I just may tell her exactly what I think.  As I have not worked out another line of employment yet, that may not happen today.

Sigh, people.  I dread this coming day.  I hate having to spend the day with my boss.  hopefully, I can make a fun day out of it, but somehow, I don't think so.

Wish me well.  It's not an easy thing to be stuck in a car with your boss for the whole entire day.

Grape, just think that she thinks, you're super hot and that's why she wants to ride with you.  It'll keep you smiling all day long ;-)

Good luck, grape, you'll be fine!

grape, if she's riding w/ you b/c your paperwork is late, wouldn't that make you want to get the damned paper work done on time?

If your language is controlled and your tone moderate, a lot of management types LIKE to get "critical feedback".

    Whew(wipes sweat off the brow)!

I'm back!  and I'm not fired!!!  (woohoo!)

I think she just wanted to ride with me because she wanted to have a half day.  I didn't meet up with her until noon.  Her and I drove around to couple of the accounts I manage, had a nice little lunch, and called it a day, pretty much.  We just sat around and had small talk, mostly.  She didn't say a dang word about the missing paperwork, either.

It was surprisingly pleasant, spending the day with the big boss lady.  It gave me a chance to have a little one on one with her, address a few issues I'd been having with the job.  She was concerned, however, at the fact that I had not met my quota for three months in a row.  There were a lot of reasons why I didn't meet my quota, but there are no asterisks on the reports, you know?  The bottom line is the bottom line, I guess.

Overall, the ride-along went pretty well, I think.  I think my boss lady is starting to get what it's like being on the street.  Maybe she'll be clued in some.  If I accomplished that, that in itself made it a day worthwhile.

Thanks for all your good thoughts and input!

    Glad it went okay!

Even better, she could LOWER your quota after experiencing a day out with you!

    Grape,

I'm glad it worked out well for you.  Maybe she rode along with you because she is checking out your potential for greater things!  Stranger things have happened.  :-)

Grape....glad that everything went well and hope you gave a good impression to the boss-lady.  She now knows what you're like in the field and this will probably bode well for you in the future.
