Beyond....what a task...i would like to talk with everybody....Let's try to narrow down ....
**Jesus and Mary Magdalene (so i will have both side of the story)
**Simone Du Beauvoir
**Any member of the Resistance during WWII
**Alyss chose already Eleonora d'Aquitania...great woman in great fascinating times so i will go with Elizabeth I and Caterina De Medici
**Confucius
oh there would be so many!
--Jesus for obvious reasons
--FDR...did he think the products of the new deal would still exist today? I know a lot about it since my dad has been a TVA employee for 30 years but I'm curious about what he thinks of it today vs when he started it.
--Martin Luther King Jr. mostly about the end of his life as Ed already discussed.
--Ben Franklin, Jackie Robinson, Rosa Parks...the list could go on forever.
As far as living people? Michael Jackson...A) what the hell is wrong with him B) to discuss the color changes of his skin.
Moms......LOL.....and you would yell back "Shut up, pretty English boy. Come to mom!!"......
**Sorry beyond...we are completely invading your blog....move on the drooling to your blog, Moms...** :-D
First, I'd like to chat with my three dearly departed cats. Since you said language would be no barrier (and it was while they were alive). I always wondered what they were thinking when they were alive (although sometimes they made it quite clear). But I think that would be fun.
Historically, I'd like to talk to Che Guevara and learn more about his world vision. I'd also like to talk to Fidel Castro before he dies and get his version of what he was trying to do with/for his country, and what he thinks were his greatest achievements and biggest mistakes.
I won't say Jesus, because that day will come anyway...and in no particular order
Ronald Regan
Marilyn Monroe
Winston Churchill
Harry Truman
Anyone who witnessed the destruction of the british army on the night they burned DC during the war of 1812 (devine intervention?) source really cool story
I would have to say Barbra Walters,Oprah,Jennifer Hudson before (she gets too big),
Dead: My mother's mother, My father's parents,Jesus Christ b/c I too want to decipher the truth from the lies,Abraham Lincoln, and Mary mother of Jesus(As she watched her son give his life for us wreatches.
All at once.
1.) God.
2.) Plato
3.) Immanuel Kant
4.)Jesus Christ
5.) Socrates
6.)Hitler
I say all at once, because that would be an interesting psychological debate of massive proportions.
Well....I would want to sit down with all these people together, it would make for a great dinner party....Mae West, Jim Morrison, Jack Nicholson, Barbra Streisand, George Carlin, Dennis Miller, Whoopie, Paul Lynn(sp?), Ron Jeremy, Jerry Seinfeld, Ron White, my best friend Billy, Harvey Firestein, Robin Williams, Nathan Lang, the Chairman from "Iron Chef" (Japan), my husband and the midget from "Threshold". We could all meet at the Olive Garden for their endless pasta, salad and bread sticks...now, that would be cool.
There are more dead than alive that I would want to see.
Dead- 1. Christ, not so much to talk but to hug him and tell him thank you and just to sit quietly in his presence.
2. Charlemagne
3. Marquis DeSade (he sounds like a party guy)
4.Joseph Smith
5. My father
Alive
1. Oded Fehr
beyond: When I was in a bookstore in Mexico a few years ago, one of the biggest sellers was Fidel Castro's recently written autobiography. I think it was called, "In His Own Words." I wanted to buy it so badly, but it was only available in hardcover and was way out of my budget. I've checked since then and have never been able to find it on Amazon.com (not surprising).
I'd like to add one more to my list. I'd like to talk with Jimmy Carter and ask him point-blank if the humanitarian work that he's doing now is his way of trying to atone for the atrocities that were committed during his administration. I think he's probably a genuinely good person, and I also think that a president cannot necessarily singlehandedly stop the imperialistic mechanism that this country has in place and in motion. So, I'm thinking that some of the things that happened in Central America during his administration have to be weighing heavily on his conscience. At least that's what I'd like to believe.
mlw: I love your idea of talking to Dr. Seuss! Can I get in on that conversation? Will we do it in the park? Will we do it with a lark?
mom: We have got to get you together with that Oded guy before you die!
Forget about Jesus, Budha or Zues.....It seems like everyone wants a chat with Dr. Suess....:D
<*ms
Beyond,
The person I would love to have a chat with is my mother. She died when I was 20. We had a wonderful relationship, but sadly she never got to meet my husband or my son. I have a lot of questions for her and I would love to introduce my little family to her. I believe in my heart that one day in Heaven this will come true although I would love to have her wisdom here on earth today.
