It was unexpected, extraordinary, and even scary but well worth it in the end, at least according to the author. This is the mystery of why a snake eagle came to his hotel room.

Yes, he was lucky.
He certainly was very brave: wrapping a towel around an eagle and carrying it, even for one minute, is very dangerous.

The thoughts about birds as messengers is ancient... perhaps a notice of change coming. Will be interesting to see what happens in the next while for that man.
I liked the comment about.."No birds today?" that is so wonderfully human. it makes me laugh. and yes, he was very brave and very lucky. I cannot imagine handling it in any other way.. critters do have great strength.

And yes, they do have great strength: I remember in my youth witnessing a group of hawks flying zig-zag beside the road near a raging bush fire.
My cousin and I were driving towards them, thinking they'd 'run' away from a speeding car; well, no, one hit the bonnet and went under the car.
We thought it was dead as we stopped and looked back. But lo, it was alive with a broken wing.
Before we could overcome the fear of the others circling above, it recovered from its daze and flew up again with one wing! I thought that was amazing strength.
Now, imagine an eagle's strength!
